I hope to fuck we finally find out who the traitor is, I've been waiting long enough.
Through the whole series he has pushed that the Merlin is the traitor, but in all honesty - and I could be wrong - I think the Merlin is just a douchebag, but an honest douchebag, as honest as any old crotchety wizard could be.

I am thinking that the Ancient Mai is the traitor. And don't ask me why.
She's a character they haven't told a whole lot about. I'll be curious to see what they do with her regardless because in the short-lived tv show she ended up
    being a dragon
and there hasn't been any sign of that yet but I'm so hoping it's true.

    There, that spoilered enough?

I'm thinking it'll be Ebeneezer; he's already been set up as the uber-assassin, and Butcher isn't exactly a particularly deep writer (love the series and his writing, but it isn't) so I think the whole mentor-mentee(?) fight will erupt.

A mighty hi5 and thank you for those that have spoiled the goodness.

This is making me want to run out and get the next couple of books soon. I think I just may.

I don't think we're done with the dragons either way because we still don't know what she gave the dragon at the party and someone in a later book (Mavra maybe?) says that a lot of important stuff happened at the party and we (the readers) don't know what all of it was.

I'm kinda hoping Carlos Ramirez is the traitor becuase that would be a cool fight. He is so cocky its funny and its mostly an act, but I think Dresden needs to take him down a few notches.

    Edit:
I just remembered it has to be someone on the senior council. Oh well.

I recently found this series after enjoying the Sci-Fi series based loosely from it. I am devouring the books at a rate of about one every two days. I'm getting ready to start book 7. I love how smarmy he gets when he is neck deep in the shit.

Only halfway through Turn Coat, and it is already that special brand of awesome. If the other books are a guide then the next half should be even better. If you are all caught up on the series you owe it to yourself to pick this baby up.

Just finished Small Favor, but Turn Coat won't be out on this side of the Atlantic for a while yet :( I absolutely adore these books. So much fun to read, and a great world.

Has anyone read the Urban Shaman books by C.E Murphy? I've heard they're very Dresden-y and fun, but having read both Anita Blake and Sookie Stackhouse books and heard of so many more, I've decided I don't trust urban fantasy fiction written by female authors. That being said, I've met C.E Murphy and she doesn't seem the kind to write that kind of series.

AuburnFlags, I think the tv show is officially canceled for good. http://www.jim-butcher.com/news/000209.php I wanna hope that the channel previously know as SciFi will learn the error of its ways, stop producing shit, and bring Dresden back, but I am not holding my breath.

Desktop Hippie, I have never heard of the Urban Shaman books but I am now intrigued. Will have to look into it.

FirmSkater, this isn't the new reading thread, that is unless you want it to be. Feel free to discuss anything. Especially if you have any recommendations. I'm terrible at finding good things to read. We need to keep this thread bumped to snare more people into Dresden Files.

Speaking of other books, I read the first novel in Butcher's Codex Alera series. I was pretty disappointed. Epic battle at the end and a young farmer saves the day? (trust me, not a spolier) Come on, I thought you were more original than that Jim! Anyone know if it gets better?

So I bought and finished Turn Coat.
It was good, one of the better books, but Dead Beat and Small Favor are still the best. I am kind of upset the traitor was Peabody, I was hoping it would be someone that had actually had something of a presence in the previous books. Morgan was a grade-A badass and I was sad to see the bastard go. Demonreach is definitely an interesting development as well as Thomas' current situation. The scars on the face are pretty eh but I am glad Butcher is keeping up Harry's gradual growth in power, he's starting to play with the big boys.

Spoilers on why I wasn't a fan of Turncoat!

    I was annoyed
that there was little to no mystery involved with who the bad guys were. Was the character just introduced in this book? If yes, then BAD GUY. The only surprise was Luccio, and I figured her to be on the take during Small Favor. I guess I can't take full credit for that one - I had some doubts about my read of Luccio because I had also guessed Elaine was being manipulated as well and so far that hasn't panned out.

But man, totally disappointed with Turncoat. It wasn't bad, but when I got to the end it felt very ho hum.

Finally finished Turn Coat and loved it. Not the best in the series, but I definetly can't complain.
Pretty sure Peabody had been in a couple books previous, but I can't remember for sure exactly. It is disappointing that the traitor wasn't someone bad ass, but the rest of the Black Council is still out there (and apparently has someone on the Senior Council now?) so who knows what will happen next.

Not too sad about Morgan but he was a pretty righteous dude.

I'm kinda surprised everything went down at Demonreach again, but the whole intellectus thing is awesome.

A creepy maybe turning evil Thomas is much more interesting than a depressed trying to be good Thomas, in my opinion.

I'm just glad Harry only got a couple of scars and won't be needing an eyepatch. That would look so ridiculous on the cover.

I knew something was gonna happen with Lucio, because there is no way Dresden would be allowed to have a happy sexual relationship for long.

All in all I enjoyed it and am hungry for book twelve.

    Hmm. Speculation!
It would seem to me that the most obvious reason to manipulate Luccio to jump on Harry's dick is to make him vulnerable to the White Court. Which would explain the part in the office when Harry soulgazed the lawyer and she said "She ran from you" (or something like that) as Madeline didn't run away from Harry, she just got the shit kicked out of her. So I'm guessing Lara is either dealing with the Black Council (because what other White Court vamps has Harry tangled with? It's just Lara, Thomas, and the youngest sister) or she's being manipulated into trying to enslave Harry by the Black Council.

Finished Turn Coat over the weekend and I was pretty pleased with it. I enjoy how quick shit started to happen at the start of the book.
Demonreach is an interesting development, does anyone have any thoughts about the significance of the island and it being the source of that bigass leyline? Injun Joe and Gatekeeper eluded to something. For that matter what is everyone's take on Gatekeeper, motherfucker is the definition of mysterious badass!

You are in for a treat, the first two books are fantastic but Grave Peril is where shit starts getting real and it just gets better from there.

    Turn Coat spoilers:
The whole Demonreach thing is quite interesting. I wanna see Harry tap into those ley lines and nuke some bad guys. I hope we find out what the orginal purpose of the island is soon.

Everyone on the senior council seems to be crazy bad ass. I hope they do more in the coming books.

Totally sucks that Michael is a cripple now. I knew he was in bad shape after Small Favor but I was kinda hoping God would miraculously heal him in between books and he would be back to his sword wielding self. When the hell is Dresden gonna find replacements for the Knights of the Cross? I've been waiting for him to give Fidelachius (spell check?) to someone for six books now.

Picked it up and read it in the parking lot. hee!

This one felt more like part of a larger novel than a complete story all on it's ownsome to me, but it was snazzy all the same. Butcher seems to be going to a lot of effort to avoid having his books choke on themselves.
