Norris Packard and the Gouf Custom were a fucking whirlwind of Feddie-trashing destruction
and when he leaves Aina to go face the Gundams and he says "Gouf! Awaken!" and it walks alongside him to the freight elevator
that was the most. badass. shit. ever.
That dude was totally badass
But that Feddie captain was certifiably insane
"Oh you've crippled my arm huh well suck on my fist then bitch"
Oh, whatshisface, main guy
SHIRO, yeah
his Gundam was badass because it was basically slapped together out of spare parts from other Gundams and still fucked some guys' days up
Cool thing about Shiro, is he was one of those sleeper crazies.
Most of the time he seems like a decent guy, until something life-threatening comes along, and out of nowhere you've got a guy using a pansy-ass ball unit to fuck up a fully armed Zaku.
Naturally, since a woman is piloting it, the Zaku is fucking pink.
I remember there was this Mobile Suit Gundam game for the Dreamcast that I really wanted
I think it actually wasn't that good but that didn't matter to me at the time
Never found a copy of it though, it was rare as fuck
At the time it came out, it was incredible.
Unfortunately, it hasn't aged very well. Lack of dual-sticks on the 'cast kind of ruins it.
It was based on the ideas of the ground war that were established in 08th. You were another standard ground unit with the command tank, and you were stationed in Australia, post operation british.
It was really bad ass. All the missions had branching outcomes that changed what happened later on. If you did well, the Federation would send you prototype GMs and weaponry.
There was even an enemy ace who had a recurring role, and if you were good enough you could kill him early on and then not deal with him again. His first appearance was in a Gouf Custom.
And the best part was that it was in first person, from inside the cockpit, and your mech actually moved like a mech should move: it was slow and clunky, and there was a lagging response time that you could feel the weight behind every time you tried to do something.
In short, it was probably the best Gundam game ever made.
Yeah Gundam Side Story was really good for the time.
I would say it was one of the best Gundam based games.
I liked the more down to earth approach where you are using a mass manufactured mobile suit.
You could also choose different layouts like a sniper unit or a heavy weapons variant.

Gundam side story 0079: Rise from the ashes. The light saber duels in this game were perfect
I'm pretty sure I cried when gamestop delayed it's shipment to me. I played that game wayyyyy more times then it needed to be played. Absolutely loved it, although I was kind of pissed at the end the beam sniper only fired a single round of laser. I wanted a constant beam that cut through anything like the sniper rifle in 08th.
Still to this day I've longed for a game that features such weapon. It doesn't even have to be about robots.
Mechwarrior 2 was cool, 3 was outstanding, but 4 was just painful to play. I couldn't get past the control scheme, and never even got through the tutorial without losing my patience.
im kind of excited because i wanted to play the shit out of it when i was a kid but did not have a DC
It's really hard to get over the lack of a second analog stick now, and the graphics kind of look like balls (at the time the game first hit, they were really impressive).

I'm sorry.
I played that game so much the first day I went to bed in my dreams I was hearing the missile lock tone going wild.

Basically just give me an updated side story with the controller from steel battalion and you will never see me again.
I remember one mission in Mechwarrior 3 that involved dealing with a Shadowcat Mech that you could salvage if you were careful. At least I think it was a Shadowcat, although the important thing was how many weapons that bastard had. It had like ten lasers and was completely awesome. I'd aim at something important and fire everything at once. Doing tnhis overheated the mech and forced it to shut down for a few seconds, but it was so powerful you'd usually cripple or destroy a target before they could do anything permanent to you.

Your shock and disbelief pales in comparison to when I found this out. I think a piece of the earth broke off and floated out into space from my intense rage.

There's some group that's making what's essentially a reimagining/remake of Mechwarrior 2.
Like, as in, everything is identifiable as being mechwarrior 2, right down to the maps. But it has stuff like proper mouse control, and updated graphics and other goodies like the mech model changing to reflect the weapons you put on it.
Its called Assault Tech. They released a just-barely-playable tech demo for it about a month back and dear god I want to see where it goes from there.
so since I started last night I've watched up to episode 15 of G Gundam
at first it seemed kind of silly but now every few minutes I'm resisting the urge to scream "THIS HAND OF MINE GLOWS WITH AN AWESOME POWER"

I wanted it too but didn't have a Dreamcast

I feel that would've been so fucking awesome, rather than fielding two lances occasionally.
I'M SORRY MYSST THAT I CAN'T TALK ABOUT GUNDAM BUT I FIGURE BIG ROBOTS ARE BIG ROBOTS
All the other gundam games are third person Armored Core style shit, which is fine but not as cool as that

But then what will you spend $170 on?
Some new DS with a shitty camera built into it?
A new pair of Pumps?
Seriously.
At least that new DS can play more than two fucking games
Oh, I'm sorry, make that one game, since the second one was online and the servers for that are gone now
Once you get tired of that one game, all you have is a really big, cool looking $170 paperweight
