firstly, how much money do I bring, what type of shit is there to buy? how do autographs/sketches/photos work? will I be able to steal some of NPH's hair assuming he attends?

the schedule of events should be up in a few weeks, and I'm sure much insane shit will be shown:

I do, but only for the last 12 years

came over from the states when I was 6, and the family and I go back every year

and this year I've decided to go, particularly because a couple cousins are coming too

I am going. Got my four-day pass at the convention last year, since I realized how crazy people are getting about the convention.

This year Hugh Jackman and Robert Downey Jr are going to have a makeout contest. Topless. Johnny Depp will be the judge

Seriously, Comicon hasn't been much fun these last few years. Yeah, it's great to meet up with people and hang out at panels and the Gaslamp afterwards, but the Con itself is so frustrating. It's hard to get into most of the panels and demos unless you're willing to put a lot of time into waiting in line.

I'd still have been willing to go this year if grifter was coming out again, since I haven't had a chance to see him in a couple years.

    Siiiiigh

Autographs from people like the Penny Arcade guys are free. You can also get stuffed sign for free by comic people when they are at the DC/Marvel/DarkHorse booths. You can get commissions from the people in artists alley for prices they decide upon before hand, and if you want one I would suggest bringing in a reference picture. Last year I wanted a Chris Giarusso sketch of Taskmaster and he was all "hurf durf I don't know what he looks like"

    What a douche.

Penny Arcade comes every year and Khoo will usually take us to dinner one of those nights. Adult Swim also does a party that has food, so that is at least two meals that you won't have to worry about. If you like Tim & Eric you might enjoy attending AwesomeCon. They serve food there so that is a third meal that is taken care of.

Looking back, I don't think I paid for any food during the entire convention. That was awesome.

When they post it, you will want to keep track of the exclusive items being sold at the con. I regret not getting the Iron Man movie Mighty Mugg. It is so beautiful.

Photos are free for the most part. I think the only exception is Lou Ferrigno

Gabe needed no reference picture when I wanted a drawing of Deadpool, but did need one the year before when i wanted one of him and Pachirisu. He used his pokemon game for the reference and everything.

Outside of comic-con, this is true. I'd even put that number a bit higher

My favorite con swag was the Cartoon Network bags they were giving away two years ago.

It varies. When they put up the list of exclusives you can see what they have to offer and how much it will cost. Be sure to get to it early, as there are bastards at some booths who will go and buy up all the limited stuff and then charge double for it at their own. My V for Vendetta mask goes for like 40 bucks now, and it was free originally.

This was like $25 and is a fairly decent size. Posterboard.

    That's probably a good idea.

There are a couple booths every year that give out these giant bags that you can put crap in. Viz also gives away a little bag every year with one of their manga on it, and a lot of weeaboo race to get it.

Sony gave out a sweet LBP bag last year. Enjoyed my one day stay as it was the first time I'd experienced a convention of that scale. Awesome-con was a great diversion and seeing the Minibosses play in San Diego made it all the better. Hoping to go 3 days this year (working rooming out) and wondering what new things there will be to do.

    Good thinking.

Some advice I would give regarding panels

Do not go to the Lost and/or Heroes panels. They will NOT be revealing anything new or interesting about the series. This isn't really an issue for Heroes because it is never interesting, but some people actually seem surprised when the only thing revealed during the Lost panel is other nicknames Sawyer has for people.

Family Guy and American Dad panels last year were worth standing in line for. They showed new episodes of each episodes months before the new seasons started, and there were these sexy guys dressed up as Jesus walking up and down the lines handing out pins and giving me their number.

I wish I hadn't lost that number. The sexy Jesus who had eyes for me was clearly the sexiest Jesus

Adult Swim is the best panel.

Grifter found one of their Golden Tickets a couple of years ago, and we got to go on a booze cruise and stuff with their company.

They used to have panels for hot people. Like, that was the panel. "Hot guys of television" one day and "hot girls of television" another.

And they had one where "reality tv stars" were present. But Manifest wasn't on the panel so it sucked ass. It wasn't the winners anyways.

Seth Green was stalking me last year. Mother fucker was everywhere I was.

Last year we had the party at Petco park. They gave every person attending a little adult swim figurine of a random character, and we got drunk and enjoyed nachos and barbeque. Tim & Eric did some stuff on the stage (dance contest!) and then the Superjail band played for a while. It was awesome.
