Aces of the Pacific and Aces Over Europe were two of my favorite WWII Flight Sim games back in the early 90s. Sure they weren't realistic at all, but they were a lot of fun and the missions were varied. I shot down many a Zero, Kite, and Val in my time playing Aces of the Pacific and protected many a B-17 and B-24 in Aces Over Europe.
Holy fucktits. If I wasn't in the final stages of procuring an excellent-condition x52 flight control system/penis enhancer to play Freespace 2 and every other space/flightsim known to man, I would totally be all for reliving my Tribes 2 addiction.
I refuse to believe that anyone can actually play Tribes 2 since I bought the game and not once did it ever work.
I've tried it on 5 different PCs over the years and was never able to get the game to actually do anything beyond logging in to multiplayer because the 3D engine would crash every time. Also patches always took 18 tries to actually patch the game. Now my CD key/account are lost to the void. Worst $50 ever spent!
Did anyone here play Starsiege multiplayer? I was in NTDF for years and years, those were good times.
Dynamix released two multiplayer ATRs (Alpha Technical Releases, basically betas) for Starsiege. The cool thing was that many of the major clans that arose in the beta, like the NTDF, BDU, WP, RA, etc. got written into the game's story line. You can catch references to them in the news feed and I believe they're mentioned in the compendium/artbook that got shipped with the game. And of course, there's that mission where you meet up with an NPC called NTDF-Sgt. Cassell :P
I played Starsiege multiplayer, RIP Oly (Olympian, 4 blasters, 2 EMP). It was glorious.
All in all, Starsiege had some of the best backstory and fluff-work (god, those 2 manuals) ever done for a game that sold so little, and that so few played.

I never understood this either. None of my friends could have given a fuck about Starsiege, I thought it was incredible. I loved Earthsiege 2 too.

Ah man at least you had friends who played PC games when you were younger. I didn't have a single one. They were all into other stuff, so I just sort of remained a closet-PC gamer.
edit: I do remember spending much time trying to explain to a couple of friends about why Team Fortress Classic is the greatest fucking thing, ever. (Came out in '99, and for those who've played TF2 but not TFC, the conventions are practically identical. The 9 unique classes, the CP maps, etc. Hell, dustbowl is a direct remake.)
Who's getting into a debate? I love both...I was just saying a lot of the stuff people find fun about TF2 now was in TFC, which speaks to how impressive the game was at the time.
Dynamix was responsible for what remains my favorite (American) football simulation of all time, Front Page Sports Football Pro. I really miss the level of depth and customization it had. It is a shame that bugs/rushed releases in '97+ (and I am sure the dominance of Madden as well) killed off the series. While other games such as NFL2k5 and Madden have certainly exceeded the enjoyability of the arcade aspect of the game play, nothing has matched the sheer depth and complexity of the simulation aspect.

I'm having a very hard time remembering, but: there was a turn-based version of EarthSiege, and I cannot for the life of me find any info on it right now, but that was my favorite ES game. I can't view any site with "game" mentioned anywhere on the page or else the work filters go bonkers...
I want to know what game this is.
edit: Just remembered, and then immediately saw the link right below it. Well played self, well played.

Oh yeah, the way they expanded on the lore from the Earthsiege series was amazing. All that backstory and they way they fleshed out the universe. Masterful.

The goons have a server.
It is public, and I think I can get my brother(Friend of Andrew.) to play.
Ah yes, Dynamix was great. Now most of their staff are over at GarageGames, selling the Torque (Tribes 2) engine. Theres also a spiritual Tribes sequel in the works, pretty sure its in beta over there. Legions or something I think its called.

I think their Sega CD titles(PC ports?) are my only experience with them, but I do love Rise of the Dragon.
Gah why do I always have to bring this one up everytime!? :P
And yes the "epic" music fits that video way better then Titanic...

The guys and gals that made those games should be proud to have made one of if not the best PC series of all time.
I never asked for this!
Was just going to come in here to post Red Baron.
I wonder if those are actual songs or if they recorded them for the game. Shame the .wavs of them are low quality.

Ditto - first game I think of when someone brings up Dynamix.
You can get a game over by pushing your sister on the swing so hard that you send her to the hospital.

To me, Dynamix is a tiny fuzzball walking onto the screen going "phew!"
