Okay folks time for us to start talking anime. Spring's almost over so start speculating on the Summer shows I guess.
First a PSA from our lovely moderators -
Hi, I'm ElJeffe! You might know me from such mod actions as cleaning up gold-farming spam and jailing the fuck out of people. Today I'm here to talk to you about your new anime thread.
This is to be your new home for the next 100 or so pages. Here, you may discuss anime and things related to anime and whatever the fuck else people who are into anime do. Of course, hentai is beyond the scope of this thread, and anyway, what the fuck is wrong with the people who dig that shit, I mean seriously?
What you will not engage in here is retarded drama and bitching and whining. If you want retarded drama, go watch Desperate Housewives or Wife-Swap or something. This is to be a happy thread full of happy commentary. If I have to lock it for the same stupidity that raped the last incarnation, the anime thread will not be coming back.
Now FIGHT! I mean talk! Thanks to Kelor for the majority of the OP
Spring season series currently airing.
Of those we've got a number that people are following:
Basquash!: Giant robots playing basketball in Nikes. Basketballs are not the only thing you will see bouncing.
Sengoku Basara: Adaption of the video game series, basically Dynasty Warriors Japanese style. The crazy action anime of the season.
K-On: Slice of life series about a group of high school girls starting up a band to save the music club at their school. The catch? They can't play to save themselves.
Valkyria Chronicles: Adaption of the video game.
Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood: Remake of the series, follows the manga more closely this time around. Episodes are available for streaming
here each week a couple of days after it shows in Japan.
Cross Game: Slice of Life series of a boy playing baseball. Highly recommended by a lot of people here.
Eden of the East: A man finds himself in front of the white house with no clothes, a gun and a mobile phone linked to a bank account with eight and a half billion yen on it. Again, highly recommended.

So far it's definitely one of the most enjoyable fights yet in the new season, and I get the feeling that the next episode will be even better.
Some nice new music in this episode too, seems they have some songs they save for certain characters. I've been enjoying the new music much more than the previous series, with the exception of the instrumental version of Inner Light, of course. Really if they just included that then it'd be perfect.
Minor novel spoilers; if S2 shows them actually filming the movie they'll probably cover this, but it makes the first episode make more sense.
Yeah, it's a pretty nice touch. Shows that the creator did some research, at the very least.
I enjoy how the episode previews in the first series would use relevant boxing terms. It's a little thing I miss in the new series, though it's understandable why they wouldn't; I imagine that after 70-some episodes of previews they'd be hard pressed to find terms they haven't used.
...
Yeah, me neither.
I almost forgot about that.
Currently painting: Slowly [flickr]
They said they weren't doing it, or just haven't announced plans to?
or, alternatively, The Pilgrimage of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Clearly they are taking lessons from KyoAni
Well this is an anime thread so I gave Haruhi first dibs.
That sounds like a very weird prequel.
What's it about anyway? Is it super important to Kara no Kyoukai's plot?
I guess burning the flag gets you a pretty sweet bounty. Poor Sanji though.
Might want to put my Slow climb in quotes as I've watched about 330 episodes in 31 days. That's not terribly slow.
It's going to slow down now that I don't have a good handle on 350 and up, but whatever.
Also it is the time of year that my work picks up exponentially.
I picked up the complete Last Exile and Count of Monte Cristo through Amazon.
Oh and I just started Darker than Black. I think I'm gonna like it. A lot. The fact that the music is done by Yokko Kano doesn't help at all. :P
This show is ridiculously hilarious.
It has a story never released, talking about some concepts, and an epilogue. The epilogue is mostly what I'm interested in.
1. It's probably going to have a very young kid in it.
2. If it lasts three or more episodes, it is going to suck.
Example: The filler right after Enies Lobby but before they leave is good. One offs, well paced, not annoying. The filler after they leave. Yerck.
I believe the "You stupid ocean!" pic is from that.
So far, it's had multiple full exposures of midori. This proved to be quite awkward with my dad in the room. Otherwise, the show is quite amusing.

Oh God dammit.
EDIT: And this is a separate book, right? My copy of Kara no Kyoukai hasn't even arrived yet, and now I'm gonna have to order another book.
Hmm...
Sounds familiar...

It's even worse than I thought.
OP rap is best part about 4kids dub. That and some of the voice actors fit really well.
Of course, horrible editing, marketing it a wee bit too young, and well, being 4kids it is generally best left unloved and forgotten.
It's not super important, considering it was only just released last Comiket... nearly a decade after the original novels were sold. But yea, it ends the series on a more upbeat note than the original epilogue to part 7. Plus it has proto-Akira Seo, and I can't say no to that.
Romance anime:
Paradise Kiss
Nodame Cantabile
Honey and Clover (really, you could just watch everything released under the "noitaminA" label)
ef -a tale of memories-
His and Her Circumstances (has some major flaws, but still one of my favs)
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Only Yesterday
School Rumble (more of a comedy)
Spice and Wolf (the romance is a bit of a 2nd fiddle, but it's a great show regardless)
Toradora!
Whisper of the Heart
STEAM
derp
Heh, that reminds me of when I rented Clockwork Orange.
And if you want to kill yourself, 5cm and School Days.
Also In the I guess you could call it romance the final episode of G Gundam, because that show can do no wrong.

I enjoy how it seems that Lawrence can't seem to make a great business deal that doesn't result in people trying to kill him.
Edit: In regards to the romance suggestions above, I'm going to add Mahoraba to the mix.
What's the tier level of that little girl? She pounded the shit out of that Arancar.
