Why wouldn't they just fly off world?? I wondered the same thing the last time Mark was trapped in that wasteland dimension.
My theory is that the whole universe is like that - that this is a universe where that Galaktikon dude successfully consumed everything.

At that point the only chance is to hang out where you arrived and hope another portal back appears sometime.

edit - Omnipotus! Classic Galactus expy.
Maybe but then why would Angstrom Levy know about the status of the rest of the universe? He only absorbed the minds of alternate versions of himself which pertains to Earth alone. He likely found the wasteland universe by exploring but that doesn't mean he knows much else about it. The alternate Marks also have varying degrees of space travel under their belt so it makes sense that they'd at least know of some other habitable planets they could fly to for food. But even if it's a completely different universe with different planets/stars, why wouldn't they at least try to venture out into space rather than eat each other? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Well, Levy wouldn't have to know about everything else in that universe. All he needs to know is that the Earth is lifeless, hence a good dumping ground for anyone who bugs him. Given the Viltrumites ability to travel to other worlds, the only possible reason I can think of for them all still sticking around on that planet is that the rest of the universe is also empty and lifeless - maybe they did go off looking for other worlds and found them all empty like Earth. And if that's true, then like I said their only hope would be to spend time on Earth since that's the most likely place for Levy to open another portal at.

Man, that evil Invincible is so fucked. Mark's tuned up on Thragg, Conquest (twice!) and helped explode a whole damn planet since the last time he fought any of the Alternavincibles. Though I guess he could still be under some lingering effects from the Scourge virus?

Well all those alternates have been fighting each other and resorting to cannibalism so he might not be as much of a pushover as you think. I kinda get the feeling Levy is gonna die at the end of this story arc but Mark's not gonna be the one to do it. Nolan's gonna fly down to visit or something and just squish his head.

Is anyone else reading Invincible Universe?

For me it's been kind of "meh" so far, but good golly I love Best Tiger

Also, #4 might have some relevance for the regular Invincible book
The Reanimen Invincibles may be controlled by an inhibitor signal generated by a machine that can be destroyed by a single bullet. IU #4 is almost entirely a mental deception though, so it could just be a red herring? Then again Cecil already has a lot of experience with really fucking stupid ideas.

I need to catch up on the ancillary Invincible titles. I really liked the first run of Guarding the Globe, but the inconsistent shipping and art killed its momentum. Then I guess it came back under Hester and Nauck, before being rebranded/launched as Invincible Universe.

I do love all those characters from Capes, as well as the ones Cereno introduced. Kaboomerang and Outrun are both pretty awesome.

I still desperately want to see an Immortal spin-off. Every arc could be about him in a different time period. G.I.mmortal! Samuraimmortal! Sci-fimmortal! Nazimmort-- wait, no, not that one.

    Issue #104 preview
"You'd think I'd be pretty weak from being stranded here and forced to resort to cannibalism, but I'm apparently as strong as someone who has recently been through the Viltrumite War! Weird, huh?"

    Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

Also, calling it now: The Alternavincible is going to fly back through a portal and eat Levy.

    Could be a science-fictiony explanation:
If a viltrumite eats another viltrumite, he gets some of that viltrumites strength. Like, cannibalizing their own kind lets them greatly increase their own power. Or maybe anyone who eats viltrumite gets stronger. That'd be kind've cool. Maybe ramifications in the future if some other viltrumite goes rogue.

Or maybe 8 Alternavincibles wailing on each other for a couple years equals one really tough one at the end of things. I like the 'viltrumite meat boosts strength idea though.'

I'm gonna guess that since viltrumites are so tough and stuff that meat derived from them is going to have a proportional nutritional value and eating viltrumite meat is probably going to be a pretty good workout even for a viltrumite. The invincible corpses were still pretty tough to turn into reanimen, for example.

Read 104. Interesting stuff. My unlikely prediction:
The alternate invincible comes back after enslaving Levy and amassing an army of Viltrumites across several dimensions with the purpose of creating a mutli-dimensional empire.

So all along Levy just needed someone to say "hey, maybe you're not remembering things right" to immediately turn over a new leaf and repent everything he's done.

    OH.

    OKAY.

This is the first plot development that has actually made me angry

It's still someone with a vested interest in keeping Mark alive! It really just seems like Kirkman wanted to kick off whatever story arc idea he's got for Levy and this was the most expedient way of doing it. It'll probably bug me a lot less if it pays off later on but for now just

    argh

It actually annoyed me more that it didn't happen sooner. Levy's motivations were always pretty dumb for such a supposed genius.

    What I want to happen:
is the Viltrum War Part Deux. This time make it an interdimensional war with an enslaved Levy being forced to amass an evil Viltrumite army that spans the multiverse while Mark is eventually forced to do the same using tech that Robot develops. Thragg escapes and maybe even ends up leading the multi-dimensional army. It would also be awesome to see another version of Thragg who was actually good instead of evil. And somewhere along the line, we need a real Alan vs. Thragg fight.

I just caught up on the last 3 issues of Invincible. Holly shitballs, a lot happened. I'm pretty hooked again, though I am annoyed with Kirkman's lame time jumps. At least this time I'm pretty interested in seeing the outcome. Some times I feel like he moves the plot way too fast, some times way too slow, and in this case, it's fast but at least it's accelerating to something really interesting. Also:
At this point, I can't see how Eve doesn't die in some fashion. Every single alternate Mark that goes rogue is seemingly linked in some way to losing Eve and subsequently turned evil. It only logically begs the question of what would happen to the current Mark if he were to lose Eve. Personally, I'm torn whether or not I want to see it happen. I love Eve's character but their relationship has kinda been too perfect and has caused parts of the book to go very stale. I guess I could see Eve losing the baby and then breaking up with Mark, thus ending their relationship but still keeping her alive, but my gut says she's going to die a horrible horrible death.

Every time I hear about Invincible these days something horribly unpleasant is happening.
But I do give Kirkman credit for showing that rape is not something that only happens to women, and is not a joke when it happens to men.

Eve, I get that you're upset about your relationship, but you're not even a little curious after learning that Robot blatantly lied about what happened? No? Okay.

Also, holy hell I was not expecting Kirkman to go that far that quickly with the Anissa scene. I can't wait for the letters page about this.

I think what bugs me the most about this Robot arc is
how vulnerable it really makes the Viltrumites. So you're telling me after decades of fighting against Viltrum, no one ever figured out that their equilibrium is their achilles heel? So no other genius in the galaxy figured that out up to that point? What more, that weakness can be exploited within a sizable range. I hope he explains it somehow, like Robot tries it on other Viltrumites and they have something to counter it so it doesn't make the entire coalition of planets look like incompetent imbeciles.

I honestly think Kirkman forgets about the equilibrium thing for long stretches of time

Well, that happened. I've been really enjoying Invincible since Angstrom Levy re-appeared. For a given value of 'enjoy' - there've been a lot of moments the last couple of issues that've been pretty harrowing.

Re. the use of tremendous gore / latest issue spoilers:
Whether or not I like Gore in comics depends on where and how its used.

If its used in mainsteam Marvel or DC books, I tend to dislike it - I don't want to read Spider-Man and Superman and see people torn apart or dismembered. I usually find it pretty sickening in those cases - I feel like the mainstream cape and tights heroes should stand without that kind of graphic, gratuitous content. I stopped reading the execrable Ultimatum because it turned into a blender for characters that I liked. DC/Marvel don't always need to be family friendly, but I wouldn't want to hand my sister's kids an issue of Superman and be worried that its full of gore porn.

It doesn't bother me in books like Walking Dead - I expect it there, so its not especially shocking when it happens. I'm affected when it happens to a character I like of course, but again that's also something you expect with Walking Dead. There are a couple other cases where gore is used sparingly where it can heighten the tension in a story - Locke and Key comes to mind. I tend to dislike seeing it elsewhere, especially if its just being used gratuitously for cheap shock value.

When it comes to Invincible, its a somewhat different story. When its used, its pretty graphic - heads pop and splatter more blood than an entire body contains all over the place. Even a fist-fight between superhumans who aren't seriously injured usually results in explosive bloodsprays in multiple panels. While it can get gross, like Walking Dead I've come to expect it, so it doesn't tend to shake me much - unless it happens to characters that I like. Which, unlike Walking Dead, I actually seldom expect.

A few issues ago, long-time villain Angstrom Levy was messily decapitated - that shocked me. Last issue, long-time support character and Nick Fury-esque secret agent leader Cecil was likewise messily dispatched, also to my shock. Atom Eve, heavily pregnant with the title hero's unborn baby, had her leg torn off just above the knee. It was horrifying. But - and this is the weird part - it wasn't horrifying in the same way that, say, a story where Superman tears the leg off of Wonder Woman would be. That would just be totally disgusting - I would stop reading any book where that happens. But with Invincible it's different. I was shocked and appalled as someone who cares about the characters, not as a reader of comics in general. I want to keep reading to see what happens, hoping they'll be okay, rather than discarding the book because I'm sickened by the gratuitous violence.

Which I can only conclude means Invincible is using gore right.

Invincible's not going to have a supporting cast much longer at this rate

Is it weird that I was more upset about Kid Thor and Knockout than Cecil? After Guarding the Globe I got really attached to them. :(

I'm super upset about Kid Thor and Knockout! I wrote that big thing about how violent gore-killings of characters in Invincible I like are unexpected and harrowing, and then a whole bunch happen! Ker-ripes!

I was less shaken by Cecil because I was half-convinced he'd have some way to cheat death - he uses that goo to revive himself whenever he starts to melt, so I thought maybe it'd somehow let him regenerate completely. Not much chance of that now I guess, with the pentagon vaporized.

As for characters that'd better pull through -
