Yes, this thread is about a spider... in fact, a very particular spider, one that's on my screen right now... no clue where he came from, but he chases my pointer wherever it goes!
Pictures are not sufficient, you need video evidence to prove that he is actually chasing the pointer and you're not just putting it where he is. I really want to demand this but I'm not in the position to demand anything.
This spider is a wee boss. This is because she is a vegetarian spider that makes a living stealing food and the occasional baby from those ants that have a symbiotic arrangement with acacia trees.

is she corrupting them, training them to infiltrate, subvert and overthrow their ant companions?
How do you think the spider is able to evade the many ant patrols and find safe places to rest between snacks? She obviously has informants on the inside.
I'm just trying to understand what a vegetarian spider is doing with ant babies
maybe she's telling them stories
maybe she's raising them as spiders to confuse the hell out of them
maybe she's starving them to death and then building little tiny spider houses out of them
Maybe some of you are familiar with Portia spiders? They are a type of jumping spider that specializes in hunting and eating other spiders, they are pretty awesome too.
They are damn intelligent, and their eyesight is about as good as yours or mine, they use this eyesight to analyze their prey, what kind of spider am I hunting? What is its method of attack? Can I ambush it from here or from the other side?
Of course their brains are pretty small too so this thinking can take them a several minutes before they can call up the appropriate memories and responses necessary. It's worth it though because having the ability to plan ahead is great stuff when you are up against predators just as deadly as yourself.
Not really scary in jpg format, but I'm starting to be much more okay with being sent to Eastern Europe for Peace Corps rather than Africa or Cambodia.
Dubh, some people think spiders are pretty great, this is kind of like a cute thread for me.
It is very easy to not click on a thread which obviously does not interest you, for instance I have failed to click on the Grizunsendra Bearhartdown thread many times today. Please don't take spider threads away from me, I do love them so.
EDIT: I liked your video, Garick. It is unfortunate I don't see many spiders where I live.
Actually, I think the little guy is just really hungry... I wanna feed him something, but I don't exactly have any fresh insects on hand.
yeah don't bother taking photos or anything
i'm going to bed.
h5 drew.
Did you guys miss the video I posted of him?
You should add that to the OP, dude. It reminds me of my cat chasing my cursor. Only it's a spider. But seriously think of the people who are gonna wake up and check this thread at work in like three hours. They won't have the patience to scroll down half a page.

why is a vegetarian spider stealing babies
is she corrupting them, training them to infiltrate, subvert and overthrow their ant companions?
Because ignoring it and not posting in it would be ENTIRELY out of the question

It is not for us to know
As long as they are far away from me.
well you could put it on youtube
alternatively, you could host it on your geocities page because you obviously haven't been on the internet since 1996

Or stab its fangs into it.

Spider threads. In case it's not already obvious enough. I swear there's been like two others in the past few months.

Marsh, where do you live so I may avoid the spiders? Where?

They don't have snakes, so maybe it's possible?
or, as it's otherwise known, "the easiest place to avoid in the whole entire world"
They don't need to be that big is all I'm saying.
