Holy crap, that inspires me for one of the new, yet-to-be-released classes:

    It would so totally work.

I seem to recall that Force abilities in some version of the P&P rules taking effort to cast, but in the books I have now it is just skill checks. I think I need to read over it again because damnit I want Jedi getting tired from using the Force.

Watching that clip makes me wonder: Jedi can sense when someones about to attack them from behind, but have no clue when someone they are standing right next to is about to get a poison dart in the face.

    Lame.

Seriously George? Death Sticks? Couldn't get an ounce more creative? DEATH STICKS!? How about...Toydarian Stimulants? THERE, I didn't even spell that right but it sounds 100% more Star Wars.

    Sigh...

Well, she did look pretty focused on killing Obi-Wan, and if HK-47 is right, the more you think about killing a jedi, the easier it is for them to sense it coming.

Liam Neeson was bad ass as Qui-Gon Jinn too.

The original story plan was to have Qui-Gon be the Count Dooku role, but they were going to make the "evil" aspects of the confederacy a little more ambiguous.

But that would have been a complex and layered story... we couldn't have that.

So we seem to be in agreement that "Assassin" makes a crappy analog to the Smuggler, as there's already a kill-for-money class Sith-side. So... Spy? Infiltrator?

Infiltrator seems like a good opposing role. They can also be stealth based, but more in a...bluffing kind of way. Like where a smuggler would sneak past a guard, the Infiltrator would do the opposite method and pretend to be a guard and bluff his way past. It would be a different twist on a similar game mechanic.

It would have been nice to learn more about why the trade federation was putting Naboo under blockade. It just seemed so goddamn random in the movie it's like 'ololol here's some blockade lets run with it' wtf.

ooh. Somewhat of a secret police type, checking up on the loyalty of his own side as much as trying to get intelligence on the Republic.

The Blockade of Naboo put the Senator from said planet in to the fore-front on the Senate.

Aka, it gave Palpatine more attention on the galactic stage.

And it was putting the foundations down with the corporate alliances and guilds in creating the confederacy. Also something about taxation on trade routes.

I'll reserve judgment, but raiding and Star Wars just sounds weird.
A raid into enemy territory to sabotage a capital ship or a base or to engage in espionage sounds pretty familiar. Now, if you mean doing it 100 times until the [Cassius Fett's Blaster Gauntlet of Doom] drops, then, yeah... that's weird.

I see "Scoundrel" as more of an archetype which the Smuggler class (and maybe the Sith version) fits into. I think something less vague like Spy/Infiltrator would fit better.

Ehh, that sounds a bit too cutesy for a Sith class, don't you think? For some reason, I have an image in my head of Leia telling Han Solo he's a scoundrel, and Han Solo turning around, smiling, and saying something sarcastic and/or suggestive in response. Ya know?

"Spy" doesn't have quite the "Sith" punch either - it's too contemporary, I think. "Infiltrator" better, but I think there's probably a better word.

    Maybe "Betrayer"? =/

Nope, we disagree. Bounty Hunters and Assassins fill different roles.

Could you explain how, exactly, they fill different roles? (Some examples from the books/films would be nice.)

Assassin/Infiltrator or whatever would probably be the only poison using class, where Bounty Hunters would prefer their explosives and blasters etc.

It seems odd that we've seen the Sith military forces in Timeline videos and in the comic and all, but that there didn't seem to even be a hint of a class equivalent. Bounty Hunters seem to be the equivalent of the Trooper (if there are equivalents between the two allegiances at all) but they're far separated from the war machine itself.

I thought maybe they're keeping them as NPC grunts to be slaughtered by the dozen. But then the same should be true of the Republic forces, surely?

Jdarksun sums up exactly how I feel, Bounty Hunters are not assassins at all.

Killing people doesn't make you an assassin, or guess what every class is going to be an assassin.
