Hey, all...

Doing a little research on the presence of photography/photojournalism in video games and I'm hoping the mass mind of the forums can help me out.

Any ideas? Right now (top/bottom of head) I've got...

Dead Rising
Pokemon Snap
Beyond Good and Evil
Fatal Frame

Little help...?

It's not a big part of the games, but Zelda: Majora's Mask and Zelda: The Wind Waker has cameras in them.

Bioshock uses a camera for performing research too. It's hardly photojournalism, but it does use a camera.

Hm, Half Life 2 has graffiti, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Some of the more obscure puzzle/point-and-click games might have photography involved; I'm thinking of the murder mystery ones.

There's a Splinter Cell clone that takes place during the Cold War where you play a journalist, I don't know if any photography was involved though.

I just remembered infamous has photography as well, though you're on the receiving end of the camera. Some side missions require you to do stuff while a journalist photographs you, showing you the resulting photo as well.

Bully (or at least the Scholarship Edition) has a camera and Photography class. There's also a bit of an optional sidequest to photograph every other student.

If you're going for that angle, then Skate counts as well.

Also be sure to mention the parallel between the two game mechanics: pointing and shooting a gun, and pointing and shooting a roll of film.

It is pretty much best in Dead Rising. You can basically fire up the game with the sole purpose of taking awesome pictures.

And while Beyond Good and Evil basically revolved around photography, as I recall you can't just save pictures of anything, it only saves pictures you are required to take for missions and stuff. I think.

Photograph Boy for the PC Engine. Review here. Review calls it Gekisha Boy, or something, but it is Photograph Boy. Awesome game.

Edit: There is a patch that translates it into English, but you don't really need the patch unless you want to know the exposition/story your boss is telling you between rounds.

Also on the N64, there were a few missions where you had to take pictures in Pilotwings 64, and IIRC there was a free mode where you could fly across the entire USA and take pictures of the monuments, like Mario/Wario in Mount Rushmore and the space shuttle place in Florida or Texas (don't remember which).

I guess you could include Super Smash Bros. Brawl (possibly melee, I can't remember). When you pause you can take pictures of the scene and save them. You can change the camera angle, height, distance, etc.
