The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It doesn't have the same feel as theirs did, but that's okay by me. As much as I liked the first one, it was too familiar. This is a good way to keep it fresh I think.
And it took me forever to see the blond kid hiding. I was so worried!
Gabe's art has stark lines and it reads across the page really easily. I had to study this page for awhile and I'm still not really certain what happened at the end there..

I think the fat kid got turned into stone? maybe? and then the chicken lizard thing smacked down their guide.

It looks like the Basilisk is spotted by the blond kid who's turned to stone, and the red hair kid is ok, but it's unclear as to what happened to the fat kid. Sort of looks like theres a statue in front of the red haired kid, but damn all if I can figure out what the hell is going on.
And so within the first comic, two of the Lookouts of have been killed?
I'll admit I feel nothing. Lack of character development to make me sympathize. That, I blame.
I was a bit taken aback by the change in art style from the first "chapter". Definitely a stark difference, not really sure I'm a huge fan of the change. Then again, I'm not really one to critique art.

Hmm. This is not what I wanted when I voted for Lookouts.
The art is nice, but not my cup of tea and like many I can't understand the last panels.

It's definitely an interesting style. I would have liked to have seen it done by Gabe, but this isn't too bad, aside from that last couple panels.
I do like the design of the basilisk, though. The podcast where they talked about Lookouts included a bit about altering the usual vision of a basilisk and it turned out well.
It's not a bad art style but it is a drastic change from the one people actually voted for... And the last two panels are too rushed, I can hardly tell what's going on. Did the instructor notice the kid turn to stone and apologize for failing them? Given that there's no hint of his tone at first I thought he had sold them out to the basilisk or something.

Lizard-chicken is a pretty standard interpretation of the basilisk...

Yes, but most interpretations are more chicken-like, or more like a serpent, like so
I think this is a beautiful comic and am enjoying that it's being done by someone other than Mike and Jerry, however... I have no idea whats going on in the last two panels.
It looks like fatty was the one turned to stone, blondie is cowering with redhead, and their guide almost knew he'd get knocked out and the kids would have to fend for themselves.
All of that said. . .how the fuck does a basilisk eat if it's prey is turned to stone? I mean, is it a carnivore or what? Can it eat stone?

This might have something to do with it being authored by one of the writers for heroes. Six panels of nothing happening followed by an inexplicable ending that only makes sense in the writer's own head. Pretty much par for an episode of heroes.

While I can respect it as an artistic decision rather than just a lack of aptitude.. I'm just not feeling it.

then the basilisk tailwhips someone
Oh and I find the artstyle adorable
maybe he was pre-emptively apologizing?
you can see the kids bracing themselves as the one kid turned into stone
they're trying not to look at the basilisk

I like how this is just about your post in every single new comic thread. God forbid somebody ever not like something when you're around.
Anyways, blondie is still alive, look to the right of the redhead.

I like the more iguana-like version.
