The more I hear, the more it sounds like Blurnball, or whatever it was from Futurama.
Cricket is actually awesome to watch. Test Cricket that is. I mean yeah, it lasts a week and goes on for hours and hours. But back when I last saw the ashes which was I dunno 5 years ago or something when it was up at Lords, the tickets for the last few days cost nothing, they just let people in from the street, and you could drink anything in the stands and there were jazz bands and shit. Heck we were sitting next to a group of a dozen aussie blokes who were all in gold clothing and there was no hostility, it was just one big party.
That's because the Australians were comfortably winning that game and the English were well conditioned to losing.

Back in May, my family and I went to Scotland, Ireland, and England. I got sick about the time I was in Ireland, and ended up watching a bit of TV, and tried to watch some cricket. I gave it maybe a solid hour, and even got out a laptop to figure out the rules and game play. I still have no idea what is going on. It didn't even look that fun (especially for the guy who got hit in the balls with the ball).
Do I have it right in saying that the pitching team is trying to hit the sticks in a very specific manner, and that the batting team is trying to defend those sticks while at the same time hit the ball away from the other players, and if they do there's some ring-around-the-rosey played and mandatory ball crushing?
Close enough, except you just have to take out the stumps, no specific manner. Don't even really need to take them out, just have the bails fall off the top (the tiny sticks in between each stump, and only one of them needs to fall off).
Then there are run outs, LBW (you're not meant to block the stumps with your legs) and a bunch of other things.
The bails have to come off the stumps. The batter can knock them off himself, he'd still be out. If the bowler hits the stumps but the bails somehow stay on, then the batter is still in.
The batting team works in the same way as baseball, just with two bases. There is a boundary around the pitch. If the ball goes straight out of the boundary, just like a home run, without hitting the ground 6 points are awarded. If the ball bounces before it reaches the boundary it is 4 points.
If you hit the ball the batters have to run between the creases, the creases are basically the safe lines when running, the amount of times you reach a crease, that's a point.
There is no obligation to run if you hit the ball. That's why cricket can be such a long sport.

I'm obligated to support the West Indies.
Are they even in this?

What spring does with the cherry trees.
The West Indies used to be a terrifying team. Young cricketers were made to behave with stories of Courtney Walsh coming in the night to bowl them to death. But, they didn't train any new players, and now they're not as good.
Monty is terrible. Horrible Ferret of a batsman, and can't field to save his life. His bowling used to jusitfy his place, but even that's awful now. Gets the odd wicket, but it's buffet quality stuff. Hopefully he'll be dropped for the next test.
It was looking pretty good for England when we took those early wickets, but now Australia seem to be batting just as well as the first test, despite all the rain breaks.

(oh god i hope they start hitting them)
463-4 is not something we can get back from.
Playing for the draw!
That was actually the year we won it.
In my mind.
Yeah, 670 runs. Nightmare.

Monty to flawlessly bat back the final over.
Having watched the Superbowl finale this year
