like the title says I recently got into d&d based rpgs like never winter nights and baldur's gate and want some suggestion on other games like this to play. so far I got
baldur's gate 2 plus expansions
fallout 2
Never winter nights plus expansions
Never winter nights 2 (although I can't play it yet due to me not having my new computer yet)
Probably the best writing you'll ever see in a game. Better than most you'll see in tv and movies as well.
I'll track down the tweak/patch list for it and edit it in this post.
Also, Icewind Dale (plus expansions) and Icewind Dale 2 are pure hack and slash D&D. No character interaction like BG2 since you make your whole party, but the combat is great.
/edit/ Ahh here ya go. List of patches/mods. Just use the ones they list there, and DO NOT enable cheats when prompted in the tweak pack.

Oh, I see your system may not be the best. Okay, how about Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura or Temple of Elemental Evil (With the Cirlce of Eight mod).
Axen on
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
Diablo 2 is fun and all, but it diverges pretty wildly from everything else in this thread. Basically no story, no character development and limited strategy. Just click and loot. Addictive, but definitely a different vein than the rest of stuff mentioned.
I'd recommend most of the Spiderweb games. Writing isn't that good, but Exile/Avernum (the first three Avernums are remakes of the Exiles) 1-3 have absurdly huge worlds, and Geneforge gives you an unusual degree of flexability in chosing sides and making decisions.
Eschalon: Book 1 is a solid little game. Its writing is pretty thin, but the gameplay is polished and fun, and it comes chock full of RPG-y goodness (like a map that gets more detailed as you invest skill points in Cartography). Plus you'll be supporting an independent developer.

This right here, these games are fucking amazing. When he says they have huge worlds he isn't kidding, I owned Exile 3 and Nethergate and I sunk anywhere from 60-90 hours into each and still haven't found all the stuff there is to do in each game. There's a ton of stuff to do and find in every game he makes. If you aren't sure about paying for them each game has a huge demo that gives you a rather good idea of if you like it or not so there's no point in not trying them out.
Seriously. You can sink about 5-6 hours into the Exile 3 demo.
And the Exile 1 demo is the normal game, except with an impassable pit spanning the middle of the game world. Everything you can do solely in the first half of the normal game, you can do in the demo.
Morrowind. Be sure to pick up all expansions with the box (Blood Moon&Tribunal). And patch it.
Its epic. A little old maybe but it can stand up to anything on the market except in grapics. In my opinion its way better than Oblivion. Fallout 3 is a tough comparision. But you can't really compare those two, can you?
This game is all about atmosphere. Sunsets. Stellar movements. Ash storms. Fog. Rainstorms. Lightening. Eerie dungons. I belive the 6th house fortresses are the most sinister looking dungeons i ever ventured in. Mad stacked furniture. And REALLY you havet to see it to belive it... all of it screams "insanity" "beware" There are demon shrines, sewers, a hollow moon, swamps huge landscapes, deserts.
Just walking around and exploring might take weeks. But its got also a very good story line. But i do not want to spoil that.
So if you can stand a bit backwards grapics you will discover one of the best - if not THE best - RPGs of all time.
I'm pretty sure that gog has Planescape. V:TM and Witcher are on Steam I think
Nope. The rights for any of the Infinity Engine RPGs (Baldur's Gate, PS:T, Icewind Dale) are so murky that nobody can actually get them up there for sale. Your best bet is Amazon / eBay / whatever.

Gametap has Planescape, Baldur's Gate, and I think Icewind Dale.

Another vote for Planesacpe and VtM:B
Also consider Fallout 2 if you can cope with the old-fashioned interface
Maybe System Shock 2, if you count it as an RPG

He said he had Fallout 2 already. He should get the far better Fallout 1 though, and maybe Fallout 3 if he's not bad at the shooting parts
edit- Actually I have in in the mood for a fantasy tactics sytled game for the PC. Like Final Fantasy tactics or Battle for Wesnoth.
I don't want to derail the thread so I won't say much here, but look at Age of Wonders 2: Shadow Magic. Fantasy tactics itch is fucking cured right there.
As for the OP, everything that's been suggested (that I've played) is excellent. Can't go wrong with this stuff. Now to check out this Spiderweb stuff...

Bethseda's can be good, if you like theirs, and Obsidian makes good ones as well.

You should fix that.
There are some patches for it that add things like high-resolution display and such as well, I think they're linked in the infinity engine thread.
Temple of Elemental Evil
Well, fine Axen. Fine. Type faster why don't ya.
No. Not at all. It's excellent. Ignore that crazy man.
Also, shit yeah. Exile 2 and 3 were so good. I only have the demos for the Avernum releases.

You can't go wrong with either of these!
Robot Jelly
I never even knew they existed.
Nor did I. I think someone needs to make a new thread.

I'll agree its kind of boring, but the people make a nice meaty sound when you chop into them.

GOG does not have Planescape.
Good luck.

Edit: I was wrong.
Nope. You know they have to be actively trying to get it, though.
