The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
Please vote in the Forum Structure Poll. Polling will close at 2PM EST on January 21, 2025.
See also my sig. Used to be Überlist, now it changed to durkadurkaberlist. My wild guess is that the forums were saved on a machine that doesn't recognize umlauts etcetera during the repairs.
It's even more fun when trying to log in. Good luck typing your name if it looks like some of the things reported in this thread. I mean, I wouldn't even know how to type all of the characters in my "new" username (copy/paste isn't really all that convenient, especially when using more than one computer. Keeping your username in a text file on a USB flash drive is only amusing for so long...)
It's just an encoding thing. While annoying for alphamonkey to find out where the UTF-8 conversion isn't working it right, it is simply fixed.
However, I too vote it is not, to get back at all the people with UTF-8 World of Warcraft names that made writing my crawler a bitch. I feel alpha's pain
Anyway I'll be fixing people's names in this thread, post what it used to be so that I can copy paste it. This is NOT a name change thread and you are NOT getting your name changed to anything other than what it used to be.

Mine went from a Roman numeral to Arabic after the upgrade. What gives?
I have this "don't tempt fate" taste in the back of my throat, but I'm running with it.
I'd be happy if I could be changed back to "Dirhael"
(It was originally spelled with a "í" but changing it to a regular "i" would mean nothing like this could happen in the future).

But then I would pronounce it wrongly when your deeds come up in my conversations. :P

I was übergeek, by the way.
Given how this name was changed, I think it should stay.
But now you're a quarter bergeek. It's so nice!
Ha, I like that.
Until it's fixed, I should just be able to cut and paste übergeek into the login and it should work. I'll find out the next time the cookie expires.
At least PRËTËNTIÖüS tried to get rid of the irregular characters in his name. But noo.

it was a name change via losing a coin flip.
He used to be PRËTËNTIÖüS. At least that's his name on Steam.
*edit: editting it fixed it all right.

The encoding seemed to change my "Lord of the Mööse" to "Arch Faggot".
I suspect some sort of shenanigans.

It gives them something to talk about when someone asks why they have such a weird name. It gives them character.

You make it sound like they were mugged or something.

Goodness, you're just full of opinions today aren't you?
That currently reads something like SenatorAmor, which may be even better.

I was übergeek, thanks Tube.
