Situation would seem to tell you what that meant.

He said he rolled the save, and was told by the DM that he believed he used "Jack Dice".

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Ah, I read it as "jacked dice" when I first read it. Which makes perfect sense to me.

"Jack Dice" is a little weird though... Jinked, thats how we speak it in these parts.

I imagine there's some news bit or story from the table that will really bring this one alive.

Ah, I assumed that jacked dice was when the dice doesn't land directly on a number. Like, it's rolled and gets caught on something so that it doesn't quite land on one single number: stuck balanced between something like 2 and 20.

At my table we call that a jink.

No matter how you drop them, a jack will always land a certain way.

So, "jack dice" would be dice that are akin to jacks, in that they are somehow contrived to land in a certain way.

"cooked" dice round my neck o' the woods. Referring to the nefarious practice of placing dice in a microwave with the desired result faceup for a few seconds. The plastic melts slightly, ensuring that one end is heavier than the other. More of a problem among the wargamer crowd than the pen and paper crowd, I find. But then I don't play Dungeons and Dragons to "win".

It is so fucking simple to infer that only a fucking goddamn moron could not figure it out on their own given the context provided.

I figure it means one of two things, A, the die landed on something on the table that made it so it wasn't flat, causing the GM to say it doesn't count and to reroll, or he was accused of rigging his dice and had to roll a new die.
