    The Predator reboot I heard about a while back

    the Alien one I just found out about yesterday, but the thing I read said it would be a prequel rather than a reboot

    either way they are both bad ideas

    I'm pretty sure the Aliens Vs. Predator movies would have been pretty awesome if it took place off-Earth in the future with Space Marines.

    Also good scripts, directors, and actors.

    the slow burn of paranoia and high tension

    Yeah, alien is supposed to be more of a traditional suspense/thriller/horror rather than a slasher or whatever it is you must have wanted

    I've seen Alien dozens of times.

    It is one of my favorite movies.

    I love the suspense. That said, it has flaws and pacing is its biggest.

    while there are "good" movies that are slow and boring , Alien is not one of them.

    Movie breakdown:

    1.Sleeping spaceship wakes up
    2.Finds mysterious signal
    7.Puts on spacesuits and goes to mysterious planet to investigate
    4.Gets attacked by facehuggers
    5.Chestburster kills crewmember
    6.It grows into AN ALIEN
    7.The Alien kills people
    8.They build an awesome tracking device
    9.They search for alien
    10.Cew member turns out to be an android
    11.Android goes fucking crazy
    12.Alien kills some more people
    13.Ellen Ripley takes her clothes off and shoots the alien into space


    How on earth is that slow and boring?

    "The Thing" is okay, but the special effects in it are starting to look a bit silly. I think Alien and Aliens holds up much better in that area
