did alaska airlines change anyone's flights? I got a rude awakening finding out that instead of return home at 7pm they changed my flight to leave at 5pm cutting my sunday fun short! can they do that?!
And I just checked. As it is July 1st, they have gone up. Damn.
Well I'm going to buy them soon as I can.
Not train trippin' it this year, the seats are uncomfortable, it's really hard to sleep without a sleeper car, and I want to participate in more Pre-PAX events.

Yes, they can. Change without any notices clause. However, I did receive an EMail that mine changed. Doesn't helped that I booked it through PriceLine and they tell me everything (super-nice they are, to me.) But yeah, our sleep-in-on-Monday has been cut short as well.

The OP ish updated. Bumping this since now new kids are coming into the forum and!
I like to announce that this weekend, I will be working on Goggle-Docs to organise the list. It will be in Alphabetical Order by Forum Handles (Also known as will be in parentheses directly after.) If you have any +1 or +fill-in-the-blank-number, please tell me and I will have it (in Google-Docs) in the format of this: ~+fill-in-the-blank-number~

Okie! I got the Google-Doc up and at 'em in the OP! Please continue to post on this thread if there are any +1 or +fill-in-the-blank-number of folks that are joining you.
I will keep it updated as much as I can up until I leave for Seattle on September 3rd!
I'm looking to change to a later return flight if possible, because leaving a hotel at 3 in the morning to make sure I arrive in plenty of time for check-in would suck.

I'll have to pay the penalty if I do, sadly. But I picked up the tickets for under $300 (w/ taxes and fees), so I'm not too shaken up about it.
What's the usual range of fee on switching out a flight? This would be the first time I've had to do so.

Umm, if it's similar to the "You missed your flight and now you have to wait for the next one" fee, it's $100...but that was back in 2006 when that happened.
However, looking up on United and Continental, it may be up to a $75 fee IF it's same day flight change.

Thought I'd fill in some local bus info for getting from the Airport to the WSCTC:
The transit stop at SeaTac Airport is at the end of baggage claim drive just outside the doors from the international baggage claim on the far south end of the baggage claim area. It's a fancy new area with art you'll know when you find it. Metro Transit (cheapest):
Note the bus tunnel is only open M-Sat 5am-1am, Sun 6am-midnight, outside of these hours your bus will be routed on surface streets.
Route 194: Take this one. This is an express bus and will take you on the freeway to the downtown transit tunnel.
To Downtown Seattle:
Weekdays: approximately 4x per hour 6am - 9:15pm
Saturdays: approximately 2x per hour 6:30am - 9:00pm
Sundays: approximately 2x per hour 6:30 am - 7:30pm
To SeaTac Airport:
Weekdays: approximately 4x per hour 4:30am - 10:00pm
Saturdays: approximately 2x per hour 4:45am - 9:45pm
Sundays: approximately 2x per hour 4:45 am - 6:45pm
Route 174: This is known as one of the roughest routes in the Metro system. This is a non-express and will take you longer but sometimes it can be the only option. If you ride this route, sit in the front of the bus and don't make eye contact. I've taken it, you'll be fine and will likely get a good story to tell!
To Downtown Seattle:
Weekdays: approximately 2x per hour 4:50am - 2:30am
Saturdays: approximately 2x per hour 5:20am - 2:45am
Sunday/Holiday: approximately 2x per hour 6:25 am - 2:40am
To SeaTac Airport:
Weekdays: approximately 2x per hour 5:20am - 3:30am
Saturdays: approximately 2x per hour 6:14am - 3:30am
Sunday/Holiday: approximately 2x per hour 6:25am - 3:30am
Fares:
$1.75
Exception: Monday - Friday 6am-9am and 3pm-6pm is considered "peak" and the airport will be charged a 2-zone fare of $2.50
Fares must be in cash, and exact change. You can feed the box extra, but you won't get change.
Sound Transit:
For $3 you can get the hippest new ride in town! Link Light Rail! Just opened in July. The only catch is that the airport station is not open yet and you will have to ride a connector bus from SeaTac Airport (at the bus stop outside baggage claim) to the Tukwilla Station. At the Tukwilla Station you can purchase your $3 ticket from the Ticket Vending Machine which accepts cash, debit, Visa, and MasterCard. You may also opt to purchase an Orca Card from the TVM if you plan on spending lots of time in Seattle riding lots of Transit.
From SeaTac Airport to Downtown Link Connector:
Weekdays: approximately 5-6x per hour 5:00am - 11:55pm
Saturday: approximately 4-6x per hour 5:00am - 11:40pm
Sunday/Holiday: approximately 4-6x per hour 6:00am - 12:30am
From Downtown to SeaTac Airport:
The Link Light Rail's first stop is at Westlake Station in the bus tunnel.
Weekdays: every 7-15 minutes, 5:19am - 12:34am
Saturday: every 10-15 minutes, 5:19am - 12:36am
Sunday: every 10-15 minutes, 5:19am - 11:35pm
Taxi:
From SeaTac Airport there is only one taxi company STITA
It is a $40 flat fee to downtown Seattle.
Shuttle Express:
This is a shared van service. I have used it from my home to the airport on numerous occasions and I know they also do hotel stops. If you're going to an outlying neighborhood to stay with friends I highly recommend this service instead of trying to connect to multiple buses or pay high taxi fares. You can also book in advance online so that all you have to do when you leave the van is sign your credit card receipt and leave a tip.
Grey Line Airporter:
$18 flat fee to downtown hotels. I haven't used this service before but it seems to be popular and you can book online.
Thought I'd fill in some local bus info for getting from the Airport to the WSCTC:
Super helpful! I used the Gray Line last year, but I might try the light rail. The Westlink Station is the closest to the convention center, right? Anyone have any experience / horror stories on the Sound Transit?
If you're on the light rail Westlake station is the closest. You can switch to any tunnel bus and go one farther to Convention Place Station, but it's not necessary. When you exit Westlake Station, exit at Nordstrom and you'll be on 5th & Pine St and the WSCTC area is a few blocks north from there.

For those taking SFO and returning anytime prior to Tuesday, September 8th, here are alternate routes to get around The Bay Bridge:
For any locations in San Francisco, take 101-N and all the exits (including 80-E) PRIOR to The Bay Bridge will still be available.
For any locations beyond San Francisco (i.e. Emeryville and eastward,) this was the simplest way I found:
~101-S towards San Jose
~Merge onto 92-E via Exit 414B towards Hayward
~Merge onto 880-N towards Oakland
~Stay to the Right and exit on 980-E towards CA-24/Walnut Creek
~Merge onto 580-W towards San Francisco
~Merge onto 80-E towards Vallejo/Sacramento
If you have other options, then please post!
Thank you!
P.S. Only 20 more days! Wherever you are coming from, book your flights NOW!

Ah. The signs of PAX nearing...you have to bump the thread.
Anywho! I do hope that everyone has their flight information in order and stuff.
If you have not purchased your plane tickets, I suggest now would be a good time--more than likely be expensive being so close to the date you want it; but it's worth a shot.
Remember, you CAN check to make sure that your flight is on time 24 hours prior to flight on your airline's website. You can also check in, but I advise not to since you have luggage. The E-Kiosks of the Airlines (if available) are kinda easier IMO.
I do hope everyone will have a safe and smooth flights to/from SEATAC and I will see everyone at PAX!
....Or if you are those crazy-awesome folks, I will see you at the Tri-Wizard!

For many airlines you can check in online 24hrs early even if you do have luggage. This allows you to reserve your seat and confirm that you will indeed be on the flight. Then you just deop off your luggage at the desk.

Super helpful! I used the Gray Line last year, but I might try the light rail. The Westlink Station is the closest to the convention center, right? Anyone have any experience / horror stories on the Sound Transit?
Much obliged! Looking forward to riding the future of tomorrow's transportation, today.
