Edit: Dammit, they've put the inventory tetris back in.
Well, i do see now that it is a wizard but that's not a skirt. There's nothing hanging down in the front, and the thing hanging in the back is distinctly cut up the middle.
It doesn't really matter now that I know what class it is; just saying.

Man, I like inventory tetris.
This is by far the most Diabloish the game has looked to me. Interface looks right, but better. Loot looks right, but better. Contrast looks way heavier. I'm stoked.
Is it true that they've done away with pots and instead health and mana is regained after defeating enemies?
From what I remember pots are on a cooldown so you cant just spam it because the reasoning was that was just fucking stupid.
Yes. Pots are on cooldown, you now are encouraged to keep fighting through by an orb mechanic, rather than just hanging back and drinking a pot to get your health back.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Nobody used pots past act 3 normal anyway, unless you needed an emergency rejuve. We'll have to see what they do with health regen and leech before we can tell if this change will make any real difference.
Its how characters were built. Any amount of physical DPS made life leech desirable, and necessary since pots weren't even that great except for a bit of a boost. Barbs, Amazons, Paladins, Druids, and Assassins are all built with a no-potion end game. Most wont need them (except for emergencies) by the time they to Nightmare. Necroes don't get hit, and Sorcs don't need to get hit, but still drink a pot now and again.
I have it on good authority that during Blizzcon they'll announce the next class to be revealed.
The monk.
I'm curious to see if my source comes through for me.
Oh god.
Oh godddd.
If that's true, I will be so very happy. God damn do I love me some monk class.
Caedere, you have raised my hopes to previously unknown heights and I want you to know that if this turns out to be false, you will be responsible for making someone sad.
Huh. So I guess they've come around to acknowledging Hellfire. Which is funny since Sierra has been under the Vivendi Games umbrella for years with Blizzard.

I don't know that they need to acknowledge Hellfire to include a monk class. It's not like a monk class was something crazy and unheard of that Sierra invented specifically for Hellfire. The D3 monk could be a completely separate entity, canon-wise.
I'm officially baffled that a newly married man is complaining about a time saving feature.
Edit: You know you love me, urahonky.
But seriously, this cannot come out soon enough. Hopefully we'll get the 4th AND 5th classes at Blizzcon. Even with a 2010 release (not set, just assumed/hoped for) I figure they have to have at least that nailed down.
Unless they're saving this for a late '10 release and want to show us the final class next Blizzcon.
Sorry guys, I think I just jinxed us.

Hmmm...maybe the Monk could play like the Assasin (combo points + finishers)? Curses, looks like I'm going Barb. The last class will definitely be a Rogue/Amazon type.
There's something about this that makes me wonder.
What sort of example of Monkish badassery were fans of that profession exposed to as children that I missed out on?
When I think Monk, I think crazy people living in captivity.
When you think Monk, you think demon stomping man of steel?
I mean unless you're thinking some sort of psychotic axe crazy murderer wearing a habit draped in the entrails of his defeated enemies skittering across the ceiling and gibbering vile curses from the book of nod or something, I just don't see how it works.

Monks in Dungeons and Dragons, Everquest and Neverwinter Nights were the best examples in gaming that I've experienced. Oh and FFXI I suppose.
They're basically unarmed-focused, cloth or light leather-wearing, some healing capability having, meleeing badasses. They don't need no steenkeen weapons, they typically move very quickly, strike rapidly multiple times in succession and are driven by righteousness.
Given that we already have the Barbarian, though, I wonder what the Monk would bring to the table to differentiate it, aside from minimal or no weapon use (which in itself is sort of problematic)?
So far we have a melee fighter and 2 casters. One can assume that there'll be at least one non-magic based ranged class (a Rogue/Amazon analog), so while I wouldn't be surprised to see another melee class, I'm kind of leaning towards a Paladin of some sort, which could be a hybrid melee/buff/debuff class, and has potential for some neat effects with auras and the new combat mechanics they've shown us on other classes.
While they could always just go the Assassin route and give them a variety of fist weapons, I can't see them using a class that outright eschews two whole weapon slots, at least not before an expansion.

I think the Monk (if they go that route) could fit the Paladin niche pretty well. You still have a meleeing healy type, it's just that he'll be in robes/leather instead of plate. He could get the 'auras' as Paladins had them, too. As far as the 'no weapons' thing goes, monks can still use some weapons. Depending the route they go with it, monks could use quarterstaves, fist weapons, tonfa, who knows? I think, like the Witch Doctor sort of fits the Necromancer niche, a Monk could fill in the Pally spot nicely if done right.
Unarmored characters don't fit very well in a game that's all about filling all your equipement slots with the hottest bling you can find.
Sure runes could replace armor pieces, but then you end up with a class that can only use a very specific type of drops that can't be used by other classes. I don't think that's a direction they want to go.

This isn't necessarily a huge issue, since when partied everyone will get their own drops just for them.

Yeah, when I game stresses emphasis on gear, the best you can do is compensate by making them wear the lightest gear available.
If they are bringing them back into the game, it'll definitely be the fist class I play, and will likely remain the sole class I'll play for many, many monks.

In other games in which monks appear, they usually just get drops that are specifically for them. In NWN 2, you would get different robes/boots/accessories that either improved your stats or helped you in some way. In the same way, if you used unarmed combat you could get gloves that added different elemental damage to your attacks or somehow augmented your melee capabilities.
It might be a little bit different than classes that use lots of armor, but there are ways to get around someone who doesn't use it.
I understand they wanted to carry over a class from D2 to inject nostalgia, but why a character as bland as the Barbarian? The Barbarian, to me, was the weakest as far as flair and character in the theatrical sense. The Necro would have been a far better choice. I'd like to see them reinvent their melee characters because the din and barb are just stale. Instead of the barb I'd like to see a stylized interpretation of the typical gothic knight.
I, too, am a fan of the monk idea as long as it leans closer to martial arts rather than being a hybrid. We haven't seen a support classes, I wonder if this is the game to break the mold? Will we see a Priest, a Bard? Didn't Blizzard say they are trying to add more cooperative aspects to the game?

Batman monks. Not the sissy sort of monks, then.
