I think that the word-of-mouth and front-loaded payments from the extra few hundred or thousand people who bought a lifetime subscription before september first is worth more than having them on a monthly plan and then potentially dropping it after one month
especially when you consider that people who bought a lifetime subscription feel somewhat indebted to continue playing it given that they have free reign and thus are more likely to try to draft friends and speak highly of it, unlike people who buy one month and then feel somewhat obligated to stop playing it every new subscription period
