Ronaldo and I had the epic night of epic on Friday / Saturday.
Ronaldo in his fancy suit. (Is that shark skin?)
The first thing he wanted to do after getting dressed up was run over everything in his monster truck.
The cops would periodically chase us back to the hideout where Ronaldo would shoot guys from the roof while I ran around like an idiot.
Then he got bored and started using a helicopter which made for some nice Michael Bay type pictures.
When things got too hot, I hid in the "safety bin". Explosions would occasionally hurt me, but as long as I stayed crouched, I never died.
Please give to help victims of prodedural arm disease.
Ronaldo decided to change clothes. Is it just me, or does the shininess of SR2 characters make the game look like some kind of Robot Chicken Barbie World?
Ronaldo The Gladiator has anger issues.
So I hid in the safety bin again.
Until I figured I could channel his agression more productively.
He had some weird moves.
I like how even my hardened character couldn't look at this finisher.
If you get a chance to let Ronaldo fly you around in a plane, do it. He's a very good pilot.
I finally "beat" the game. (65% complete, but finished the story mission, what I consider "beat" I dont have time to be a 100%er) A Fantasic expierence, granted im running a Athlon X3 3.0 TriCore, 8 gigs of Ram, and an ATI 4870, but my expierence, was near flawless, its not a "great" port by any means (My machine runs Crysis at near max better than this). However when Yahtzee talked about th game being better than GTA4...I think he was right.
Just a personal opinion of course Your expierence may vary. Some random thoughts:
Theres a mission in the middle of the game thats entirely to hard, at least on the PC version of the game, the hit detection isn't good enough to allow you to chose one target over another really, at least when that much crap is flying at you. (Veteran Child)
The coop is terrific, however some of the rewards you can get, made easy through coop (unlocking the cobra pistol and the unlimited pistol ammo, which I did this evening come to mind) made the end game way to easy, I should have finished the main storyline first, then had the pals from PA help me out.
I feel like a criminal getting this game for 5 USD and then being so satisfied with it, i had 31 hrs 49 minutes sunk into it when i "beat" it.
Variation/characteristics for the automoblies isn't as good as GTA4 however, you still get a lot of difference between each type of car (a corvette doesn't feel like a cement truck).
Its a cliche' at this point, but the customization option for your character are truly hilarious, if you can dream it, you can wear it (went with no shirt, tattoo, a giant pimp hat and boots at the end game but through most of the game I dressed my character entirely in Miami Hurricanes colors, I looked like a ticket scalper in Florida.)
Aircraft flying, while not as complex as GTA: San Andreas, is just as good without being nearly as frustrating, I never beat GTA:SA because of the flying mission in the PC version, some buttons make you go up, others make you go down, and mouse buttons to shoot mans, while not super responsive or dynamic, its not a flight simulation, if I want that ill play a Jane's game. Passable flight that adds good dyamics to the game, without being hard to control without a flight stick.
The "respect" to get to access missions in the game has gotten some bad press and really not deservedly so. If you dont want to do the hard parts or the things you find hard, you really dont have to, go beat a few missions to see what something is and gain some respect and then go about your business. The Demo car derby at the arena is easy and will get you enough respect to move through the game a significant bit.
This game is a bit violent, almost unneedingly so, not really any choice to choose the middle ground, some of the mission even have you slaughtering innocents for no good reason whith essentially no punishment (try driving around in GTASA and killing a bunch of pedestrians and see where the police are, here they are after you, but will give up in a rather short order).....all of this is bad from a violence point of view, but the vehicle controls and the way the missions work probably make this nessesary.
I could probably go on and on forever, but really: its great, buy it, you'll like it.
TL:DR:Wall of Text: Saints Row 2 is terrific, buy it while its 5 USD or youll be sorry.

I had a feeling that my thoughts about the violence may pick up some backlash, but I stand by my word, the game is violent when it matters (the cutscenes). driving around killing pixelated pedestrians is no big deal but capping someone whos already down while talking to them or...well I forget how to spolier tag so ill leave it at that.
Edit: maybe its because your character in game, lacks some sense of humanity, kill em all then tea-bag em, isn't always appropriate.
Double Edit: I suppose I would get in trouble for moving my post to this page eh? too bad, I would really like people to try it out for 5 dollars (see previous page)
Barnstorming is fun. I have the triple wing prop and the spitfire type single wing prop plane. Good times buzzing through downtown and along the bridges. If you barnstorm in coop do both people get it?

This game really is GTA: The Parody. Or whatever it's called when they make fun of something by taking it to the extremes. The main character in gta is almost always some cold blooded assassin/jackass whose solution to all social conflict involves ammunition, and sr2 sort of mocks that, I think.
Blain that was good times. We played for hours. I have no idea how many times we actually went back to the hideout but I must've killed a thousand FBI agents as they stood around that damn empty dumpster.
EDIT: I'd pile up screenies but I run on lower settings so the cinematic effect is kind of lost.
Edit: maybe its because your character in game, lacks some sense of humanity, kill em all then tea-bag em, isn't always appropriate.
I would argue that your character's responses, while extremely harsh at times, were always very true to the character and very human. Buried under the layers of surreal cartoony violence, this is a story about revenge. They don't beat you over the head with it, but the one person that you looked up to and respected, set you up and tried to assassinate you.
Theres a mission in the middle of the game thats entirely to hard, at least on the PC version of the game, the hit detection isn't good enough to allow you to chose one target over another really, at least when that much crap is flying at you. (Veteran Child)
That's not correct, you're not supposed to shoot while he's holding that person, you need to throw flashbangs and THEN shoot him. There are flashbangs all around.
I'm not gonna debate the violence, I agree that it's way over the top, but that's also the whole point of the game.
I love GTAIV, it's very different from SR2, but I happen to enjoy both concepts. I love the hyperbolic craziness of this game, the truly unmatched amount of customization (including the walk, taunts, expression, voice...), the oodles of fun stuff to do, how you can store as many cars you want anywhere and then use then as many times you need... The total absence of bullshit in this game is refreshing. It's a uncontrollable orgy of gaming hedonism.
GTAIV, on the other hand is freaking alive. that city looks and feels like a real place. The animations are supreme. There is nothing more lifelike, it even makes killing random people hard, because they're animated like real people. The way the phone and the internet are integrated with the missions is really beyond cool. I also like the cutscenes and the VA, and enjoy the driving and the shooting mechanics (except cover, cover sucks). The attention to detail is second to none.
Both games have tons of amazing little touches and funny little things.
GTA SA was a fork in the "sandbox city" road, and each game took an opposite path. I happen to enjoy both concepts.
BTW, SA's flight school is easy with a gamepad (I even got all gold medals, and cannot do that with driving school). You should really beat that game, it's great.

Yes im aware of this but even after you flashbang him its a real bitch to shoot him without blasting your friend. Ill bet I died 20 times trying to seperate them (reenforcements coming down make it hard, and ill bet that I killed her at least 10 times, sometimes to make it even more fun, hell lose his mind and just start machine-gunning her to death).
Sniping in this game sucks ass. Every time I perch myself in a 'belltower' and get out the actual sniper rifle, hit V to go to scope mode, and then zoom in, all the people and cars disappear. I have draw distance set to max, but no matter what, as soon as I get to the second or third zoom, pedestrians and cars just fade away as if they are out of my Line of Sight. Grrrrrr, I want to snipe from the top of the ATC tower damnit!

I REALLY want to play with you guys but I don't want to get burned with an unplayably crappy framerate. Is there any way to bench test this somehow?
Not really. Why not just list your specs, and we can give you a rough idea what to expect.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/idolninja
Really, as long as you avoid the fast cars and the racing activities it's mostly playable.
The bad performance is directly related to how fast you are going.
