my aim is always to get a waterfall going through the dining room and bedrooms and then pumped back out into the river but I never get to there. Pumps and automated power are hard.
Man I am so angry I can't run this worth a damn on my netbook. So many hours I could be using to command legions of dorfs to make thousands upon thousands of rock baubles to give to caravans in exchange for...
Wood? Sometimes?
Maybe seeds for better booze? I don't really know why I keep caravans around, they don't really bring anything necessary for survival.
One day this game will actually use multiple cores properly.
That day will be glorious, and also the be the day it will be used as the benchmark for all stress tests. Computers will no longer be rated in gigahertz but it dwarves.

I once had a fortress with an actual waterfall in it.
Built all my dining rooms and bedrooms around it, then promptly abandoned my fortress due to mass accidental deaths over the falls.
man is it time to count individual kernels of corn for eight hours straight???
Hey, at least you get Legendary Bookkeeping at the end of it.
Getting buffed out by counting things is pretty damn awesome.
The first leader of my expeditions always ends up a legendary miner, then later becomes a legendary bookkeeper once the bulk of the mining can be shifted away.
One time he went into a fey mood and before I realized I didn't have what he wanted, he went berserk and killed everyone in the fort.
Mining skill helps you when killing with a mining pick equipped.
Hey guys just FYI there's currently a revision of the game available that's not on the front page of the site. This version is basically the same as the front page version except the graphics engine has been vastly streamlined, netting much higher framerates for most people. Also there's a few other interesting features such as being able to zoom the view in and out and resizing the game window on the fly rather than having to muck about in the files with notepad.
The improvements in this version are going to be incorporated into the main build when the next major release rolls around. Probably early next year. Probably.
Oh, you're talking about the water. It's normally a more watery looking image, but he has the init option that makes the water tile appear as its depth number (max per tile is a depth of 7)

My poor head brewer was shot and killed.

Get everything all nice and tidy then 24 useless peasents turn up.
nothing wrong with sending them off to their deaths though
Or be sure to wait until you have some masterwork statues and doors and food. Then you can murder anyone and they'll be chill.
Game looks almost understandable now
blue ?'s means there is no graphic for that item/thing right?
FAQ, I love you, but I'm going to have to stab you.
I usually see it after changing an order, which is what led me to believe that it has something to do with pathing.
yes I am sure that is the answer
I stand by my belief they are items without graphics
