Actually, Mastodon is co-headlining. (They've been playing all of Crack the Skye and other assorted awesomeness.)
High on Fire and Converge are the opening bands.
Worth going to just for Converge. Axe to Fall is the best album I've heard in years and Converge's best IMO (yes better than Jane Doe)
I'll be watching this episode tonight. For the record, Converge suck when they're not playing Boston.
I mean, no mic swings to the face? shame. We used to be scared for our frail bones to stand too close at a Converge show, now they're just so goddamn thankful.
While I admit Converge doesn't really play the type of music I like, all bias aside, I thought they put on a terrible show during the Dethklok/ Mastodon set. Their sound was terrible (blame the sound techs, I guess, but I was in a pretty good position for sound for all the other bands), and the lead singer did some of the stupidest things on stage. The mic spinning wasn't bad, but the hand gestures he did made me laugh. He was busting out jazz hands or something. Also, he did these weird wind-sprint things back and forth on stage when he wasn't singing. He just looked stupid.
I may not be a huge Metal person but I fuckin love Mastodon and High On Fire. So I thought I'd check out Converge as well.......ehhhhhhh no thanks. Still, if I wasn't so brokeass poor I'd make seeing one of these shows my only goal in life.
and anyone who doesn't like Home Movies is the Master Dildo.
Not to rub it in, but they put on a damn good show, as well. I've been to a good number of shows and that one was my favorite of them all.
It even surpasses the Mindless Self Indulgence show that had a bunch of chicks taking turns dancing/ grinding on me.
That good.
In my mind one hot chick at a Dethklok show = 20 hot chicks at a MSI show.
All the hot chicks at the Dethklok show were with people.
All the hot chicks at the MSI show were trying to find guys who weren't troglodytes.
Win for me and my mediocrity.
I guess you just weren't Metal enough for them to dump their boyfriends and friends and throw themselves all over you. If anything I'm too Metal to go to a show.

If I don't, which I don't think I do, I can always just put on a grey shirt and take some. I'm seriously not joking when I say I look just like him. In fact, I'm thinking of suing both Small and the singer for Cannibal Corpse for very clearly ripping me off.

Dethklok's incompetence in the real world is starting to take a depressing turn for me. They're starting to reach a point where they go from being hilarious celebrity parodies, to making me wonder how they can remember to breathe. Nevermind get to where they are now.
Also, the manager is ten kinds of wicked awesome and manipulative. He's the real hero of the show.
I mean, I would have liked the episode to have a bit more to do with an overall plot, but that's kind of a dramatic way to go about doing it. And bad things happening to W. Murderface is always fun.
Also, the Ugly Facade cover of Takin' it Easy is hilarious, and on youtube.
I kind of wished the would've just went on and did a half assed show as Dethklok and learned a valuable lesson or something, but I guess just saying fuck it is the Dethklok way.
