Way too many people here asking about a game that they should already own from the insanely awesome $50 THQ pack the they had on sale for black friday.
and yet for some reason it is the only game in the pack that I have yet to play.
It's funny that the only real reason I want to grab Titan Quest, a game focused on collecting items, is that I want to build my collection of Steam games.
This is my problem...At the rate i play games, i believe i have enough to last sometime into 2011.
I'm going into grad school this fall and will no longer be working. Buying cheap games now is like hoarding food for the winter

Freedom Force is, imo, a terrible game so far. Boring in scope and scale. Controls are cumbersome. The plot is terrible, but I'll attribute that to it being based on comic books plots (not exactly Heinlein or Norton).
I beat mission 2 and I'm completely turned off the game. The only difficulty I've found is in man-handling the terrible controls, and the plot-tension revolves around having no real idea what the plot is.
Same here, I bought it a few years ago in a discount rack and played it for all of one hour. I still want that hour back in my life. :v:
Ditto. What the hell is up with not having check points? Even on easy mode a few pistol hits and you're dead and I have to go through all that cheesy dialogue and the whole level AGAIN?

Try setting the Cycles under the CPU header to max. This will cause DOSbox to try and guess the correct amount of cycles per second for the emulated CPU.

Try setting the Cycles under the CPU header to max. This will cause DOSbox to try and guess the correct amount of cycles per second for the emulated CPU.
Aye, I found a recommendation to set the line
cycles=auto limit 8000
to around 20000 instead. After that, it zoomed along perfectly for me.
I'm pretty sure you can save anywhere in Freedom Force. Of course, that didn't make it any less frustrating when I died and realized there were no checkpoints.

You might notice the commented out call setup.exe line. That configures the ingame audio, you'll want to set it to the SB16 settings and to generic midi for the music.
Try setting the Cycles under the CPU header to max. This will cause DOSbox to try and guess the correct amount of cycles per second for the emulated CPU.
Aye, I found a recommendation to set the line
cycles=auto limit 8000
to around 20000 instead. After that, it zoomed along perfectly for me.
Thanks for the tips both, I set it to max but it's a little too fast - not enough to be problem though. I'll start from 20000 and see if I can hit the sweet spot from there

You can hit ctrl 12 to increase cycles and ctrl 11 to decrease while Dosbox is running to find a good spot without editing the config every time. Also ctrl f7/f8 to do frameskips.
This is a good idea, find the sweet spot, then hit alt+enter to go to a window mode (if you aren't already in one). At the top of the window the amount of CPU cycles DOSbox is emulating will be displayed. Then you can just plug that into the config file so you don't have to mess around trying to hit the sweet spot every time you play.
