it's worthwhile because, like mass effect, your previous decisions show up in the expansion. i haven't tried a fresh one, although i will because governing an arling is fucking hard.
Can I import my guy if I managed to end up dead? I'm guessing no.
You can. Storywise the game just pretends you made a different choice.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
can I burst out of my memorial statue whole and unscathed
because that would be a way more awesome story
It was all due to
Enchantments!

I keep meaning to play this through again, but it's such a huge time investment. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and combat.
The expansion is just like the original but with a more interesting enemy, right? (This wouldn't be a bad thing for me)
Not really
You get fascinating new companions, and you're given all of Arl Howe's estate after he dies in origins. You basically have a main plot about a new type of darkspawn and some sentient non archdemon entity, and the rest is performing lordly duties, rebuilding your keep, and rebuildng the grey wardens. Lots and lots of side-missions.
You can also start as an orlesian warden at level 18.
my roommate (who mostly plays Zelda and NMH and some JRPGs) been trying to figure out Dragon Age, and I've been trying to help.
however this usually turns into me nearly yelling at him every five seconds
i'm a horrible teacher and i've had this habit since like the second grade.

It's so easy to figure out, seriously
any jackass can play it like WoW, or if you're not a retard, you can take the time to apply a level of strategy to your fights that is pretty much the most uniquely useful and effective i've ever seen in an RPG
teach him first about tactics slots, then make him play a mage
he's playing a mage right now. and i've been explaining it it's just his main problem's remembering all the interface stuff and picking things on levelling up.
i don't know what his problem is either.

If you play a mage in Dragon Age and can't kill shit, you are a retarded goose that is so silly you deserve to be shot.
Seriously, Cone of Cold everything. Petrify and Smash. Fireball. Mana Clash other magic users. Earthquake large groups of enemies from afar and then hit them with Inferno and watch the carnage.

is importing a character worthwhile or is it not so bad to start a new with some orlesian dude
Okay I need to finish my mage playthrough and then I shall get it. I shall get it so hard
Just tacking on those hours of playtime gleefully
It's really, really good though. Definitely on the quality over quantity side.
Can probably get it delivered real quick too
And then we can all talk about it
nope i believe you play the game as an Orlesian warden

Also it is just me or is it incredibly easy to make Anders/Franklin love you? ps the adorable kitten is the best item ever
Wynne still hates me, though. She called me a bad rash.
Yes
Isn't it set after the main campaign
t Zen: A wizard did it.
Like you do in the beginning of the first level in Blood?
You get a chainsaw hand
