He really introduced himself to you by his internet handle?
yes, he did
edit: To clarify, I am assuming that is his internet handle. He did not actually say it was, he just said "I'm Raven"
maybe it's really his name!
i fucking doubt it
Fantastic lot this attracts. Really thought shit like this was just unfair stereotyping. It definitely isn't.

I'm assuming her husband was a not-so-nice man, Fluffy?
Pony - I have a friend who goes by Cow. It was a nickname he picked up somewhere along the line, and now even his mother calls him Cow instead of his birth name.
No idea, Passer. He bitched a lot is all we know, and did nothing about what ailed him. Instead of solving his problems he just kept whining and whining until she had enough.

Ok, I just had the best idea for a phalla setting, but I can't find the D&D signup thread... I've done a couple searches and can't find it, only a bunch of phalla threads. Anyone happen to have it handy?
i don't go into places like hobby stores swingin' my pipe around and lording over the socially retarded nebbishes
this is their space, i am at best a guest in their clubhouse, and i behave myself
there was a couple dudes who once started a petition to have me banned from a hobby store they frequented
now, they were assholes and the guy who owned the place laughed at it and told me about it (it's how i found out!) but in confronting them about it i realized just how much of a jerk i was being to them
so now i try hard to turn the volume of my personality down in there

So I should feel good that I identified and hung out with the normal people who played MTG there to just have a good time and actually had a life outside of the store? because if you dealt with some of the mouthbreathers and sad people who I could smell two rooms away, I am pretty sure I would go insane. I fucking hated the rules lawyers I had the displeasure to play with. Completely ruined the game for me.

Search for "Upcoming Games". That's the name of the thread, I believe.

well, i have my limits
but i try to put up with it
i even try to help some of these dudes if i can work past their social insecurities and shit
basically what I am saying is Pony, that myself and the 2-3 other people who did not eat, sleep and breathe MTG would feel like outcasts because we had a life outside of MTG and would actually get made fun of for talking about sports teams in the shop from a couple of the weird ones. Then we realized that they are the outcasts and we would go see a movie and have a kickass time and get drunk.

yeah, i've often had the "outcast amongst outcasts" experience, going back to my very first Star Trek convention when i was a kid
it's something i've grappled with, because i want to socialize with people who i share hobbies with, especially when that hobby is a game that requires being played with other people
i'm more or less at peace with it, and don't take a lot of it personally
i adapt to my social environments, always, and i came to realize that these sorts of environments are no different. just like i am a very specific person when i am working in an office, i am a specific person in a hobby store playing dungeons & dragons with dudes
the reality is, they aren't all that bad. not most of them. some of them are completely intolerable (the kid in the blue hoodie that Fluffy and i were talking about was horrific and i seriously felt the urge to strike him)
but a lot of those guys, with their socially retarded behavior, got problems and could use a friend from outside their nerdy social bubble to reach out to them and work past their defenses and maybe help them out of that cynical box they've built around themselves
yet apparently some of y'all think i am a judgmental prick!
Pony you aren't a judgmental prick because my god I have been to those environments and yes, those people are socially retarded. It is strange seeing those guys and being all o_O you are really making fun of me for not blowing a full paycheck on MTG cards and dare go with friends to a movie/drinking?

A distant relative of mine killed her husband. She was a cousin on my grandmother's side I think.
Story goes that the husband wouldn't stop complaining about a toothache so she removed the tooth with his rifle. My family sympathizes with the wife.

I want you to fucking remember this the next time [chat] is breathing down my neck for unfair stereotyping.
Not all stereotyping is unfair.
...and shot him?
Stopped his whining, didn't it.

You're usually pretty fair and balanced
I want to post something in the legalization thread but I don't know if I should.
