    I believe either the sub gambit was to get Jack on or possibly even Smokes was the one that planted the bomb, let's say Widmore did it for certain. Widmore was an Other who we have seen by the temple shenanigans cannot kill candidates. And even further, after Keamy killed Alex, Ben went off on Widmore about breaking the rules and blahblahblah that may pertain to this. I don't know, it's hard to type this shit out straight. So much weirdicity.
