yeah, we have the ability to extinguish all life a few times over into an unsustainable fucked to death pile of glassed dirt
if it was going to happen it would've already happened a whole shitton of times
If I could lime this any harder, I would.
why
saying something isn't going to happen because it hasn't happened yet is fundamentally flawed
Yeah, but acting like somebody could just turn the world into an orb of broken glass by pressing a single button or something like that is illogical in the extreme.
For fuck's sake, you guys are acting like we're living in Europe after Archduke Ferdinand's assassination, and that every foreign power's about to hit some magic kill switch. We're not. Yeah, you've got crackpots like Kim-Jong-Il and Ahmadinejad playing with fire, but you've also got about half the world ready to jump them the minute they get a match.
Maybe this is just youthful naivete, but I really don't think we're on some inevitable march to annihilation. I think we've fucked up a bunch of shit (i.e. the environment, developing nations, the economy), but it's not too late to fix our mistakes.
Yeah, a nuclear apocalypse is possible. But it's also possible that we could all grow wings and build cities in the clouds. Or the world could become one giant nudist colony. Or Tube could turn his home into an orphanage.
Any of these things could happen, but there's no point worrying about whether or not they will.
We need to focus on the issues in the here and now, and if this shit comes up in the future, we'll deal with it then.
Ok, I know everyone is hating on the idea of global this and multi-national that, but really the world wasn't less of a vindictive and hostile place when all countries were independent of each other and in it for themselves.
People complain about corporations, but over the past several years my old local government couldn't afford to put on festivals, open pools, or run school busing, and in each case the big corporations stepped in and kept them all running and open, and doing a good job of it since they are actually accountable for the results.
Just because something happens, doesn't mean it's going to happen the bad way.
guys i don't think you fully realize that we'll be able to create fucking LIFE in like 5 fucking years
never mind that artificial intelligence robot bullllllshit
we'll be making things that are ACTUALLY alive
and the religions of the world will fucking FLIP. OUT.
What will Jesus say when the first of his children's creations dies and walks up to him in heaven and says "Man, it's some pretty fucked up shit they are messin with down there".
Do life forms other then human beings and maybe animals at a subservient level factor into religious views of the universe? Created by us or otherwise?

AoR's post is absolutely absurd in a whole lot of ways, and, frankly, horrifying in some others
I don't really want to get all nitpicky on his post, but I will say that "deal with the now now, deal with the future when it comes" is exactly the sort of attitude that got the Gestalt "Us" in the mess we're in now, and got various other historical "Thems" in a whole slew of other messes
Posts
just give me a game where i can shoot tea party demonstrators for a prolonged period of time
they are links about organisations that operate with a neo-liberalist perspective or mandate
Like there are over a billion or two of people living in the third world.
If they all suddenly disappear we would have even more food.
Plus we wouldn't have to make Poverty History any more cause you can't put money in the ocean and Bob Geldof would finally shut the fuck up!
fridge logic.
Satans..... hints.....
it's just part of the term
don't be pedantic about it, yeesh

The DNA of the forum is overtaking the thread... we are creating new life here!

But they have guns too.
Serious question now, what exactly do these slogans mean?
fucking christ man
I am pretty opposed to organizations forcing development and international trade on countries. That seems kinda of like wars in the making to me

either we get blown up or it's a shorter, catchier way of saying, "DISSOLVE THE CURRENT GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN X"
Like the entire factory got up and kicked the baby in the butt.

the rent that I pay myself
To be fair, the baby was being kind of a Pepsi.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out

Busting nuts.
