Yeah, I usually ignore reviewers. There's a few that I know I agree with almost all the time so I'll trust them, but when it comes right down to brass tacks, that two hours of my life isn't so damned precious that I'll regret it for all eternity if I end up not liking a flick. So I just go for it if it looks cool.
Loose cannon moviegoer. I'm not turning in my badge! You NEED me!
I generally don't look to reviews to make a decision on a movie, since I see enough that I'm almost not even being picky. I do enjoy reading David Edelstein of New York, and good film criticism is something I always enjoy.
But in my mind there's a difference between movie reviewing and film criticism. The former generally only wants to help direct your dollar, the latter attempts to find the film's relevance.
I've been trying to avoid reviews more and more lately

I like Roger Ebert but he is no good for scifi. Ther are certain movies I think are quite good on a technical level, but something about them is too youthful or something, and they just go over his head. He's just kind of old, ya know?

too much loud noises and he tends to zone out
but he did like The Losers, and he tweeted the Scott Pilgrim trailer a little while ago and seemed positive about it
Oh man I can't really remember the last time I've been this giddy with anticipation about an upcoming movie. Lately when I go to the movies, I've found myself more excited about the prospect of there being an Inception trailer before the movie than seeing whatever I'm nominally at the cinema for.
The longer trailer did actually run before the A-Team when I saw that recently, and I think the BWOOOOOM nearly blew out the speakers at my poor, tiny, local cinema.
And yeah, I'm seeing Toy Story 3 tonight, which I am excited for too, but part of me keeps hoping the Inception trailer will play before that too even though I know that's silly.
I am really looking forward to this like you wouldn't believe.
There was an interview with Richard Zanuck the producer recently and he talked about Quint's Indianapolis speech and how crazy drunk Robert Shaw was during the scene
Richard Zanuck: I don’t know whether he had prepared or how much he had prepared his own thoughts, but most of that story and that scene… And Steven [Spielberg] was sharp enough and smart enough to just let the camera roll and there were big pauses and everything, which we cut our way through, but most of that was not on the page in the script. He was half in the bag and just let it flow and it was a remarkable performance and bit of acting in that one scene.

Aw man, really?
Awesome for Shaw, but John Milius apparently wrote the Indianapolis speech, and I always gave him mad props for that

For example, if I'm reading a James Berardinelli review, I know I am almost guaranteed to agree with what he thinks.
If I am reading a Claudia Pauig review, chances are I am hoping she hates it, because that will probably mean I will like it.

I have no idea who those people are or why I should care.
Not to be more of a goose or anything, but really why are their opinions treasured?
This is even more off putting, I have no idea who writes reviews. Should I just read up a review of a movie I've seen before that they did?
if you promise to treat it respectfully
I'll do it later. :P
there is no way so many of my favorite actors could ever be in a movie together, directed by christopher fucking nolan of all people
I'll do anything you say Mr. Eastwood

Doctor Who is fantastic and you'd do well to shut up.
Because I don't like vapid celebrities who are famous far beyond what their actual skill or entertainment value merit.
How are you today?
