The art in Girl Genius isn't bad, it just isn't for everyone.
The coloring is good
but I've got a better fucking grasp on human anatomy than the GG artist and that is saying something
There's plenty of good art that's not anatomically correct. Regarding GG, though, I just never got why everyone got so repelled by highly malleable faces.
in the webcomic kevin posted, that looks like doug funny's friend in female form
Now you reminded me of something I really hate.
Just when I think you can't get any worse
What's your problem with me all of a sudden?
Anyway, Doug simply was completely impossible to relate to. Him and all of the other stereotypes he was surrounded with. I did like that jock, though, because he was often quite laid back and did not consist of one major characteristic. Everything else was just exaggerated, superficial and streamlined dramaturgy for a "demographic". Some episodes had heart, but I simply found it was for a kind of kid living a life completely different from mine. Doug was for US kids.
I am as interested in what Doug feels, thinks and wants as I am in the goings-on of that spoiled douche Jeremy from the "Zits" comic strip.

I too will chime in belatedly with my opinion. Girl genius looks interesting enough but the people are so hideous I will never be able to read it. They just look so bad. All the time. I mean I might understand if it was at least consistent. But it isn't. It is like everybody is cartilage head.

See this can be said about all art.

no some art is actually bad. just bad. the only arguable thing is if at that point it could be called art at all.

"no some art is actually bad. just bad."

everything except the people is quite good
like the scenery is good, if i remember correctly
and the props and the inanimate objects
It's on purpose!
A major theme in the comic is how badly people screw up the world, he's just a little literal with his illustrative metaphor
I don't know why his characters are ugly
i REALLY don't think he's that meta-aware
i think that's just how he draws and it is unappealing
panel layout needs tweaking
That's pretty much the only nice thing I can say about it.
I just wish I knew what the fuck was going on
Briefing complete!
will it be this post
I don't care.
give
a
fuck
I have a problem
Cyborgs walk like this.
robot translator
androids are sophisticated robots
It's much more straight-forward than the last thing he did
And the art has gotten nicer
this sure is a ridiculous post, yes sir
