It's really hard to ask a vegetarian about why they're vegetarians without them being afraid I'm going to be a dick about it, I've found
that it is that way is not just sad for them, but when I ask I'm geniunely interested, because there are loads of interesting reasons
If you notice my very initial post about this, to elldren, I was worried about this
It is a valid fear
EDIT: or at least common enough that i experience it
Isn't the reason you're a vegetarian because you're against the slaughter houses and the way they treat/feed the animals? Not against eating the meat?
Yes, but that is minor. Bigger issue is environmental damage, at least to me.
So why won't you eat at a seafood restaurant?
You realize that overfishing is a huge problem right? Shrimp stocks in particular are in a bad way right now, and a lot of commercially-harvested and sold fish is being harvested in a dangerous and unsustainable manner.
What is overfishing a problem for, other than seafood restaurants and our own supply of fish?
Also I will come to your house and eat your insect burgers
also Thom, even if I've read all this before, it's still a real struggle to read. It's just so awful.
Some fish become too fashionable for their own good. Orange Roughy comes to mind.
Slow maturation + Fishing them faster than they can breed = Population crash and/or human induced selection for smaller fish.
Then you get the usual domino affects on whatever eats them, and whatever they eat.
There are lists of what fish are better to avoid out there if you look for them.

Like right here, although the website is really annoying to navigate, you should invest in the book.
thom that story about you trying to catch a katana is pretty badass
stupid, but badass nonetheless
Stupid? He caught it! He actually did catch it and stopped it from doing damage to anything but his hands which I guess one is kind of prepared to write off when they're all you got against a sword
pretty damn badass
EDIT: But the end effect is that we don't have any fish to eat. But if we stop eating fish we're not eating fish anyway so we don't need it there.

I love how you can mouse over them to see them in tasty meal form.

It was pretty stupid. I have a really nasty scar on my left hand that didn't heal right. It sliced the finger open like a piece of bacon and scar tissue grew under the skin where it was attached. There was also an infection that lead to a small amount of damage of to the nerves of my left hand. It was better then dieing but far from badass.

Eating fish is ok. I like fish.
Just avoid things that are being over fished for a while. Then the population will bounce back and we can eat them some more.

Podly I suddenly like you a whole lot more since you got jailed.

That whole thread really should be turned into a book. Syndalis's alien sex cult story is gold. And the incest story was pretty .
I'd really rather not. As cool as it would be, I like being flesh and bone.
