Ya'll are kind of overestimating the paladin "redesign".
As it is on beta right now, prot still functions almost identically to live. Ret functions mostly the same but it's somewhat less spammy and Divine Storm is completely MIA. However if you're expecting a redesign to the degree we've gotten before, you're gonna be very disappointed. I just did a bunch of Vashj'ir and some of Hyjal after exploring for awhile, as ret, and really it didn't feel that different at all.
Holy however, I can't speak for. I have zero experience with holy.
That's odd. I recall seeing Divine Storm using Holy Power to determine its damage. Anyway, they're not done with it yet so at least I'm hopeful they'll work that Blizzard magic.

Yeah, it's not much different. Basically they gave them another system besides just cooldowns to manage so they could make them more interesting.
Remember GC said it was originally just for Ret Paladins (who were the "Waiting on Cooldowns" boring ass DPS class) so they could do SOMETHING interesting but they liked it so much they gave it to all Paladins.
I'm mostly depressed about the loss of the stones, as they finally got them right and useable. But the removal of the demonology talent for them makes me feel its permanent.
Stone were pointless and I'm glad they are gone. They basically turned into Rogue Poisons except less interesting because your spec determined which one you used and neither of them had any utility or interesting effects.
It's exactly the kind of crap they should be cutting.
Oh yeah, re: paladins; word of glory is bugged on beta so that it costs no mana and doesn't use up any holy powers. In fact it doesn't even require holy power. And it procs conviction. And it's instant cast with only the GCD.

I have never seen or heard of this Matthias quest line until this discussion here.
You ever go to summon some friends to ICC and discover you can't see your summoning buddy even though the map says he's right next to you?
That's why.

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
There's no point in questing after you hit 80. The "stories" are trash as is the loot.
No? Quite a bit of the loot is very nice for a fresh 80. The gold is fantastic. And you still have to unlock like, the Ebon Blade area, or the Argent Crusade thing in Icecrown.

I quested out the top end zones basically for the achievements. The fact that it made me 3 grand and jumped me way ahead of the curve in a bunch of reps was just a bonus.
But i've been wanting to fight Arthas for forever. I actually did get to heal a 10 man LK attempt. We got to phase 3 and got defiled by some person not looking. But it was super awesome.
So is there any lore source that's interesting to read/experience for it's own sake?
Only played a little of WC1+2, and after reading wow wiki articles I'm broadly familiar with the back story. I come from an old school rpg background so would like to feel some connection to what's going on. So far its been disjointed plotlines and ooo what did X boss drop. Heard mixed (mostly bad) things about the novels. Is this a doomed quest?

You know, for all the bitching we do about well, everything. I do have to say, I really enjoy the LK fight. While it occasionally tosses out some RNG bullshit, its hard enough without being super cheesey that you feel like you actually had to work for the kill, even with the buff.

I found the Christie Golden novels were fine for their genre.
So does the 'runes' mechanic on paladins make them better, or is it more like the Death Knight system where it's there to limit how many times you can use certain attacks?
Also, did they change it so keeping DP up doesn't suck balls anymore? That's really all I could ask for in the x-pack, being able to tank without having to worry about letting my little bar run down and leave me stranded.
There are no bonus Stamina talents. Prot paladins get +10% Stamina at level 10 for choosing Prot spec. We also cut the Spiritual Attunement mechanic and the "Improved Divine Plea" mechanic. Instead, Prot gets Judgement of the Wise (sans the raid Replenishment effect) as a passive, just like Ret. In essence, the melee paladins should rarely run out of mana, and if they do, they always have Divine Plea for emergencies.
Mana will still matter to them in the sense that if a Ret or Prot tries to be a healer or spam Consecrate, they'll blow through their bar more quickly than it will refill. But if they are using their normal attacks, mana should stay in a steady state.
(Note that Prot can still use Consecrate without spamming it by taking the long duration talent.)
The pally system is a reverse combo point system--the points are generated on you instead of your target--with a max of 3 combo points.
I find it a little hilarious that Paladins are getting the fix that rogues should have gotten ages ago.
It's not a "fix". Combo points on you instead of the target is a whole different system. One they've said many times they don't want on Rogues.
Because when a rogue builds up combo points on one target and uses them to blow up another target that's bad. When a ret does it, it's working as intended.

Woah new beta build and they updated the worgen model:
Old:
New:
I like it a lot better the old worgen look like puppies.
Wow, that screenshot really emphasizes the difference. I didn't mind the old one, it more or less fit WoW's look.
The new one does too, but it represents how far they've come with their art department. Which makes me excited for two things: first, I'm taking this as an indicator that they're doing just as much work for worgen females because there was no way that body was staying. Second, it gets me pumped for when they do the revision of the original 8 races for the game.

That screen shot reminds me:
I know we are getting a new water engine with Cata, but are there any other graphical improvements? Normal mapping perhaps?

They're doing solar flare stuff too iirc, like if you fly towards the sun and there is a mountain between you and the sun you get these rays of light filtering out around the mountain.

Yeah I really hope they do them. Cata reminds me of Everquest 1's Luclin expansion but actually good... REALLY good. I play a troll female and I would love the ability to blink.

Well, you don't have to hope for anything aside from how soon, because they stated recently they are indeed doing it.

This. I was about to switch to Warrior Full Time (tm) but nooo, they give me SnB and combo points. And maybe a pet.
When will it end?
Unending Breath, such a nifty lil spell that is worth more than it's weight in gold.

Are you one of the people who stopped questing the -instant- you hit 80?
If so, you missed a LOT of content, and loot, and area unlocking, and basically it makes you a bad person.

The money isn't though. Neither is the rep or some of the loot.
Didn't really hold a candle to most of Storm Peaks though.

At the very least, less people would be wierded out when I bring up dragon rape on the last boss of the Nexus.

You might even call it "vendor trash," which generates an income.
As opposed to bump mapping?
