no, that is a serious concern. You can't exercise down there, and you want to get them out as soon as possible. If it takes four months to get a hole that they can just get them out of, how long do you want the fat guy to wait so you can make it bigger?

there's actually a few kilometers worth of tunnel that they dug out before they got trapped
so they have a lavatory area a good distance away
only, they're not sure about the stability of the structure so they're pretty much being told to stay in the same place (actually i think they figured that out themselves before contact was made)
