In the sense that people flipped their shit at the new one being really weird and crazy when it was actually pretty much in-line with the level of craziness of the previous indiana joneses.
Just like the craziness at the end of assassin's creed 2 is pretty much par for the course for assassins creed
the problem with the ending was that it came out of left field
it made no goddamn sense and felt completely shoehorned
yes, this
a thousand times this
There was enough plot with the Templar attempting to take over the world and all
I think the Vault was only a surprise if you didn't go after Subject 16's glyphs. I don't think Minerva said anything new that wasn't already hinted at in all those puzzles.
I'm not so sure about that
finding evidence of the pieces of Eden all throughout history does not equal humanity being created by an alien species and -oh- a solar flare is going to kill everything and I'm all knowing so I know someone down your bloodline is going to hear this and everything just in time to save the world
it was a little much, considering the rest of the game's plot involved Ezio avenging his family and, in the present, Desmond dealing with memory bleeds and learning how to be an assassin

None of the other Indiana Jones movies had any aliens in it. It was all "faith based" fantasy.

When you could hear them or see the subtitles, which on my old TV especially, was not always, a lot of the ramblings of the crazy guy in the background of the Glyph puzzles hinted at quite a bit of stuff.
That said I really enjoyed a lot of the crazyness and am apparently one of the few who enjoyed the Desmond section in the first game a whole bunch so I definitely have my own biasses and i know not everyone likes what I like.
solar flare is being used to explain 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar, as thats when the game takes place and the second flare is supposed to happen
pretty much
Every major historical event has been explained in this game or referenced.
A slave race created by more advanced beings was definitely hinted at in the glyphs. The Sun thing came out of nowhere though.
Not really
The Sun being a source of destruction was part of several of the puzzles and the clues to unlock them. The only big surprise at the end was that they were talking to Desmond instead of Ezio.
I love the game's plot. If it was just crazy it would have sucked, but it went so far past crazy that it became great. Especially after the first game's plot didn't really kick in until right before the end credits.

yeah that seems fine to me. i don't like really long games
Hmm I didn't get mentally unstable so much as burdened by truth.
Someone mind spoilering the end of AC1 for me so I have some idea what the hell's going on? (Or will the start of AC2 do that for me?)
go big or go home!

this happened with me and every single other person I know who beat AC2
I urge you not to write off the multiplayer aspects of this game
I'm not usually someone who gets into multiplayer usually but this is crazy fun
Yeah me too
It was fucking annoying for AC1, but less so in AC2, and I think it will end up being a pretty decent story overall once all the games are out

But I've got a lot to do this week. Might pick it up next week instead. Still super excited though.

Once you get really good at combo killing you become an unstoppable force without ever having to wait for counter kills
I mean obviously he was wrong, but still. It's not like he faded into non-existence on release day.

the ending was the only bad thing about it, imo

So, so much
The only thing that was dumb was sparing the guy, and they had to do that, because, you know, history.
It's nice to see Ezio get bitched out about it in this game

fortunately, the rest of the game managed to keep an even keel
