it's part of this weird watered down reggae-esque trend that seems strange considering I haven't heard anything from dave matthews or jack johnson recently
another one of this type of song is that god-awful anti-war "the captain" song
You mean "The General"?
I... I kinda like that one
Also how is it reggae, watered-down or otherwise
yes, that one
I don't know I don't really have a word for that tripe

You know what? Antimatter can go fuck himself. I like Kings of Leon.
I know what music I like
and what I like is beeps and boops, guitars and drums, synth and vocals
it does not fit in these categories therefore I dislike it
Uh...like it has to have all of these at once? Because Kings is a rock band and has guitars, drums, above average vocals, and some synth but not a lot.

define above average
His range isn't outstanding but it's better than most contemporary rock singers and I'd say his style does a lot to set him apart. He's no Robert Plant and he's not good enough to be a solo artist but as a rock singer I think "above average" is fair.
I believe that kings of leon, like so many other bands, went from decent to same-ish pop-rock with rapidity
Though I wouldn't call the previous one "pop-rock" it seems they took a step back towards the old with this latest album. They went from playing amphitheaters and other more modest venues to arenas and stadiums overnight and from what I've read from interviews they didn't like it all that much.
I can't remember the last time I heard a good song on the radio
I think its finest hour has came and went
you just have to find a good radio station
I found a station around here that plays all sorts of stuff. Decemberists, White Stripes, Mumford & Sons, Gorillaz, Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Broken Bells, etc. Best radio station I've ever heard.

I'm not a huge fan of the White Stripes, but I don't dislike them either. I just can't figure out why everyone's always blowing their wad over how great Jack White is.
