Blown away as always by alot of the stuff on this page.
Some progress with ink on a bad scanner. Don't know if I like it all that much anymore, but still gonna do some work on it and make it a bit more presentable, think it really needs some color, always afraid to shade with ink alone. At least I now can see some things I really need to work on (CLOTH). All microns, because I don't like inking digitally:
Hey, I've been looking at the artwork on this site for a while now, and decided to start improving my own stuff, and I guess the best way would probably be to post new drawings and get critique from you guys.
Here's my most recent potatoe-creature. (The colors might odd because I'm working on my laptop... the screen bends at an odd angle and I tend to slouch when I color.)

you got a lot of white lines around your blacks. Is that intentional or you're just not sure how to setup a drawing for color?
You could just color on top with a multiply layer seeing how black can't get darker than black.
Godfather: if the lighter hairy lines are reminiscent of they way you build form, I'd suggest you try a slightly more simple geometric way to approach structure. I like the motion and the fluidity, but I cant really understand most of your pictures theres just one too many overlaps and the sketch lines go in all sorts of directions.

Gotcha.
The extra lines are my searching lines, but sometimes I like to leave them in to give them a more fluid feel. Regardless, i'll make sure to finish this one so you guys can have something worthy of critiquing.
Still learning the ropes around this wacom. I'm inking with it to get myself use to drawing straight lines andm an is it not easy.

James Mercer of the Shins. He was squinting in the picture, but I both managed to make him look like he is crying and make it look nothing like him at all. Oh well.
I really need a new scanner.

so I just type in this box and it goes on the screen?
Like before you even consider anatomic details, or features, build from the inside out with geometric ideas. The circle for the bulk of the skull, for example, the circle for the bulk of the upper torso, the rectangular prism that is the box of the pelvic girdle. If you think with these geometric ideas, you will be able to see through the form and your figures will carry volume.

TMC- yeah, that last ones a ot better. Though when using value, try to define the form not using the lines.

I'm getting myself back into sketching so I can work over the summer. It's been a while.

your eyes... they can see into my soul.
also, more practice:

Who's Dick Cheney?
The bottom right sketch seems like Sergio Aragonés' work (mad magazine).

I can't tell what's going on in your pic Godfather. All I see are a few figures then a bunch of scribblies. Try and define your forms a little more.
EDIT:
more work... I thought the anatomy and lighting turned out a bit better, but the hands still suck. Ah well, next :P
EDIT EDIT: holy crap! that had way more contrast on my laptop.... grrrrrr
EDIT EDIT EDIT: took some softbrushes to it to try and add some more contrast.
Awesome, i like how dynamic your lines and composition are... I just wish i knew what that was...
the 2nd one is my most successful of the day, in my eyes. although... i dont think the 5th one is bad either.
shiboe: I started focusing more on line. The reference photos I'm using have been over exposed 1 - 2 stops leading to a lack of color variations.
gn: structure like... how?

I'm putting this on hold so I can work on that other doodle I posted earlier.
