sure glad I didnt buy the latest NFS for 60 dollars when it first came out less than a year ago. anyone have any experience with the latest hot pursuit (in comparison to HP2 for the PS2 even)
I haven't played the game myself yet but you could watch this video to check out how the game handles, if that helps!
It is a lot of fun if you like need for speed games. My favorite for of the last few games. I really didn't like nsf shift though.

The online community is kind of dead for the PC, but if you have some Autolog buddies it'd probably be pretty alright.
The Hot Pursuits and Races are really fun, and pretty much the meat of the game. The problem is that's like... 25-30% of what's actually there. The rest is one-on-ones and time trials, and the handling on the cars is somewhere between arcade and sim. It's easier to hit a drift than in something like NFS: Shift but it's a lot harder to control and hit precisely the right angle than in Burnout: Paradise. There are a bunch of different cars in each class, but it always seems to me like at least 60-80% of them just aren't as good as that select few that perform better than the others.
Between the controls and the traffic it can get frustratingly difficult, restarting races over and over because you blew a turn or missed a shortcut or something. When it all hits right, and you push a guy into a helicopter spike strip or you nail someone perfectly with yours, it's great. But when you nail an AI car and get them to a dead stop, just to blitz right past them, have them spawn behind you, and then race past you again... that's really annoying in a cop racer.
When it hits it hits... but there are a lot of misses and missteps too. I did think it was fun for a while though.

I got Hot Pursuit for xmas on disc, but it crashed all the fucking time
Could the steam version be more stable? When I was actually able to play it I had a lot of fun.
I'm interested in Section 8. It looks semi-Halo-like and it's cheap as chips. Anyone know anything about it? Is it first or third person? If it's third person, count me out. I tried Dead Space (which looks to be a lovely game) but I just can't get used to the third person, over-the-shoulder view. It really spoiled it for me.
My memories of that game were mostly everyone else picking shooty classes and I would pick the healer who sucks at healing then go around shooting people with my pistols because fuck you stop getting hurt so much.

Section 8 is pretty neat and feels like a cross between Tribes and that amazing Unreal 2 multiplayer mode that nobody ever played.
Also, Men of War is goddamned amazing for something that I originally written off as a CoH clone.
but the other part doesn't want to play another WoW clone
the mental back and forth is getting on my nerves
In Rift you either give yourself carpal tunnel syndrome spamming the holy fuck out of 1 macro, or you run something like Autohotkey, so you can spin your mousewheel. Since you can't bind your mousewheel to anything by default.
I know that I've had similar problems with CoD4, which also uses punkbuster, and I fixed it by disabling the steam overlay in-game, because apparently punkbuster takes issue with things like that.

so, just looked at the Deus Ex agumented edition pre-order thing (still coming out in august), and for the first time in a while I feel like this is a game I'll buy the physical pre-order of (if at all), simply because it looks like the steam one seems to have no in-game stuff. Just superfluous stuff, like an art book and a soundtrack.

I guess this is good for the steam thread, but man is the Crysis AI dumb as shit. I've been playing it a whole bunch recently and those dudes sure love to run into mountains or just stand there.
