It's obviously in the very early stages yet. I've basically pinned everything together for the purposes of this picture, but it breaks right back down into all the parts while I work on it.
What do you guys think? I'm debating what to arm it with presently. The 2 ccw option is a given at this point, as it has two close combat arms, but I need to give it 2 more weapons; either big shootas, rokkits, kustom mega-blasters, or skorchas.
Get some 40K Orks as well and mix& match pieces as you go. You can create some really unique combinations which all work together in a characterful way.
That map puzzles me a little though. All the fluff says that the reason the Imperium and the Tau haven't fought more is because the Tau Empire is on the wrong side of the Eye of Terror, but according to that map, it isn't.
Also that was a really nerdy thing I just wrote there.
mani, a little trick I learned when applying matte sealant
as soona s you spray it on, blow smoke on it
cigarette smoke
or that reefer you're always puffing on 24/7 erryday
the particles in the smoke will cling to the wet sealant and help give it more of a matte finish, cutting down excess gloss
It's not the matte varnish I had a problem with, that was fine.
I just don't like the texture of the gloss coat I used on the casket itself. (I was trying to get an Obsidian look, as Nagash imported TONS of black rock for his pyramid.)

(mix in some future wax with your paint when applying a coat like that instead of using a gloss coat. Also, for an obsidian effect, you might want to consider using an actual layer of wax over it, like they did in the LotR movies, spraying layers of parafin over black-painted carved styrofoam to creat ehe obsidian tower of Saruman.)
I was talking to a friend, and he says he thins his ardcoat with water until it has the consistency of skim milk.
Once I come back to this model, I think I'm gonna strip it and try that.
Well, our local blackshirt did say that they're being primed by their district manager to expect two new races by the end of next year. One for Fantasy, one for 40k, and supposedly they're not going to be races we've seen before.
(Meaning no Chaos Dwarfs, and no Squats.)

Sweet. Wonder how much outrage there will be when they're revealed.

Who the fuck thought this arm situation was acceptable?
Anyway, it's forced me to learn to sculpt with green stuff. (At least at a rudimentary level.)
But once they were primered the fur blended pretty well.

I'm unhappy with the way the gloss coat turned out, but I have way too much stuff to do to be able to go back and redo it at this time.
