It is summer in Angeles Bay, on a day that is warmer than the norm. Tensions are high due to a long heatwave, and many try to stay inside to keep cool. Not a particularly notable day all in all, excepting for the execution of a plan to rob a branch of the Herald Bank. Just after 11AM, two vehicles crash through the front door of the bank, filling the building with chaos. Smoke billows from one of the vehicles, making it impossible for anyone to see clearly. The choking miasma paralyzes both victim and aggressor, creating an uncertainty about which side anyone is on. Ultimately, the bandits make off with only a portion of what they set out to obtain, leaving behind a scene of destruction. This becomes the start of a localized crime wave that will not soon be forgotten, a series of events that will leave a permanent mark on the city's history.
Day 1 will close on Saturday, September 3, 9PM PDT / Sunday, September 4, 12AM EDT / 4AM UTC A couple of general clarifications to be made. First, evidence from each player is counted by units. Individual units may provide positive or negative points toward evidence and can be manipulated on an individual basis. Evidence also carries between days.
Second, please be careful with your identities. In the wrong hands, they can do you harm.
@The Anonymous: My theory of the crime is that the mafia is a conspiracy between penguins. Both Peccavi and Mr. Defecation are penguins, and by Mr. Defecation's own testimony:
Since players with similar avatars often act the same, Peccavi is clearly a member of the mafia conspiracy.
He's a shy overambitious dog-catcher on the wrong side of the law. She's an orphaned psychic mercenary with the power to bend men's minds. They fight crime!

Spoit is pretty obviously guilty, you guys.
...is what I want to say, but I guess I'll just have to settle for his avatar having nothing to do with Aces, Attorneys, Turnabouts, or Trials.

I'm all for not silencing vocal players, Drez but leading wild goose chases to the detriment of the village is exactly how duna doomed the village in PHA/LLA.
Is that your expert opinion as a specialist in B:L behavior, Mr. *ahem* Dr. Qwerty?

I'm afraid that won't do at all. I'll have to penalise you.
(-1 exclamation marks)
I'm afraid that without evidence, the defendant's species is irrelevant. Objection overruled.

Yet you do not refute the statement. Perhaps you enjoy taking things in the darkest of places?

I have to make an actual decision day one!

Why, I had never even considered this! Peccavi, your defense?
And to clarify, by the wild goose chases I meant that whole kerfuffle in Rawk's game that Drez insisted on making into a huge sideshow.
But the testimony clearly states that nobody could see anything!

To be fair I was partly to blame for that too.

No one could see clearly, but one does not need to see absolutely clearly to spot someone as shifty as jdarksun.
Yeah, I'm not going to vote for Drez for that reason - to be fair, he was vocal on what he believed, which is what the village needs.
If everyone remains quiet, then... well... uhhh... we'd have a very quiet village and nothing to go on.
So I'm going to vote ecco for now!
So I'm guessing that there are impersonation abilities/framing abilities?
If you can find out someone's name, then you can probably frame them (add +extra guilty evidence).
But how would you find out someone's name, if they don't tell you?
Probably also some form of investigator ability?
So I guess if there is an investigator ability, then when someone approaches you and tells you your role name, they aren't necessarily seers.
Fake edit: Oh, in fact, MrB said that role name is not necessarily tied to alignment.
Okay, I think I'm starting to understand the game now.

What I meant to say was... this pizza dough is delicious!
And I offered to both men, but they refused me! What kind of honest men would refuse such delicious pizza dough?!
I swear I heard one of the bank robbers say tee-hee~
I love you for this
