Isn't Musume an adaptation of the original PC-98 Corpse Party?
Yeah I google image search'd that, and I don't think I'm ever going to read that shit. Looked like it went for maximum shock value and nothing more to be honest. It didn't look scary, it just looked disgusting.
I might have googled it out of curiosity to see the cover like you guys, but then I saw Yuka among all those stars and all my curiosity died. I already couldn't stand her, so I don't need to see her face get ripped off or something.

Stop googling it, damnit, the first page is a Urination Endurance contest and the second page is a crossdressing Satoshi.
That should be heavy tipoffs that something is horribly horribly wrong.

Which again kind of leads me to wonder why you brought it up at all...
I still know nothing of it and will keep it that way. From this point on I decree that all discussion of it shall stop. Let's discuss more pleasant things. Such as this very important question I've been wondering about for a while in the game.
When did the bucket outside Class 1-A get filled? It was filled in Chapter 1, and maybe 2, but then it was empty for the rest of the game. Does that bucket have an alibi for the murders? Because I don't think it can prove where it was at the time of any of them. I've got my eye on that bucket. Is this mystery answered in an extra chapter?

It's one of two mysteries that were never really explained in the game...
I assumed since the game has time shenanigans that the bucket was the bathroom that Yuka eventually had to use... except Kizami threw a wrench and a kick at that idea. It's still entirely possible she used it sometime in between scenes but with how it was laid out, this doesn't seem very implied.
The other mystery is that random mumbling girl in the art room. Is that supposed to be Kohaku, the name tag you get from the statue? She literally disappeared after you meet her.

Real spoiler mentioned within.
Yeah I kind of forgot about her. I think maybe she was supposed to be the hint towards the darkening since she turns into a black spot? Probably not though since you see that same spot in the bathroom where Naomi started crying, and she didn't succumb to it until much later. Also that room was called the cursed art room. Why was it cursed? I saw nothing cursed about it. Maybe mumbling is the curse. Perhaps the bucket is involved. I do not believe it has an alibi for the time between meeting the mumbler and her disappearance.

It actually does kill someone though...
It drops Naomi's neck onto a noose in one of Chapter 5's bad ends. Sure it might not be the same bucket...
They have yet to localize Book of Shadows, dammit.
But if this is on PC too, then there's hope yet.
In other Corpse Party news, the 10 minute OVA included with the parody game has been fansubbed. It's out there if you know where to look, and pretty much worth it if you enjoyed the game.
The first scene re-enacts the game's most messed-up moment, though oddly enough it was clearly censored despite being an OVA. Makes me wonder if XSeeD would un-censor it if they decided to bring it over, though like the original game the sound alone will drive you insane.
It then goes full fanservice from there, but the scenes are still disturbing in hindsight once you know about the characters' darker secrets.
It also turns out I missed a bonus scene with Naomi and Seiko in the next to last chapter...
that apparently spells out that Seiko was indeed romantically attracted to Naomi.
Supposedly this is further implied in Book of Shadows

Book of Shadows is more a straight visual novel. Corpse Party is an adventure game with VN elements.
Your best bet on the PS3 never came out in the US; Umineko no Naku Koro Ni(When The Seagulls Cry).
I would think 999 (DS game) is probably the best pick for horror visual novel with additional gameplay (puzzles in this case). It's also getting a sequel coming out really soon on 3DS/Vita if you like it. It's no where near as terrifying as Corpse Party, but it is good.
As for plain horror visual novels: Higurashi When They Cry* (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni / When the Cicadas Cry), Umineko: When They Cry (Umineko no Naku Koro Ni / When The Seagulls Cry), and Song of Saya (Saya no Uta) come right to mind. All three contain nightmare fuel.
*Also has a really great comic adaption with much better art if that would float your boat better.

Worth noting that Umineko's anime is awful. Play the VN, or don't experience it at all.

I've heard of When They Cry, a friend suggested I check it out after talking about how I really liked Another. I can't find it any where to watch though. How would I go about getting the VN?

It's getting officially released in English.
Eroge are Visual Novels with porn elements like any other fantasy book... only now with pictures. Sometimes it's 1% of the visual novel (Fate Stay Night for example) while sometimes they're the main focus (mainly the case dating sims) and anywhere in between.
To be fair, I've heard SoS has a genuinely good story, but it just takes too disgusting a route to tell it.
I can't stand that over-the-top style of making things fucked up for the sake of it. And I heard it has porn too? Yeah, thank you, but no thank you.
Well based on what I've heard, the sex scenes are actual integral to the story, sort of like the movie
Species, or The Fly II. Basically "what has science (and sex) done?"
I've only played a couple of VNs, but in my opinion it's a disservice to call the sex scenes in something like Fate/Stay Night "porn". Yes, they are explicit, but they still play a role into the narrative (though occasionally ludicrously) without becoming the main focus of the story. The latter falls under dating-sim VNs that basically "reward" the player with whoever he chooses to shack up with. Those can be called "porn".
Seriously? Who's localizing it, and when's it due?
I don't think there's any chance in hell it'll make Steam, but...I sure would love to read all the reactions if it did.
JAST USA. They made a deal with Nitro+ and started localizing their titles. Song of Saya being one of the first five of the deal. With luck we'll eventually see an official English release of Steins;Gate over here (a harder deal as it's two companies that have to be negotiated with: Nitro+ and 5pb)
They also released School Days HQ recently too... which some would call horrific.

PS2 version is all ages. It's good overall, but not until the 2nd route. First route by itself is so-so.
Finally finished it myself and I really wish I didn't look up official character info.
Even by Japan standards....no. No chance in hell.
She also "really loves" her brother, but even that is blindsided by the fact that this cannot be 14.
That aside, best horror game in years.
And please, as a favor for me, do not look up the manga by Square Enix.
Much more horrifying than the game, and not in the good way.
