And of course the rivalry is poorly defined. The only reason it's there is as a half-assed plot device for the last act. It exists for no other reason than to keep the audience busy for a couple of minutes while Adrien Brody leans into an obvious plot twist.
Plus, the end of the fight spoils the impact of--
A predator getting his dome cut off. You get one or the other, you can't have both and you certainly can't have two within ten minutes of each other. You can't unring that bell.
It isn't a terrible movie and I'm glad that they decided that if they were going to half-ass a sequel, at least it should be R-rated. The best part about the movie was Laurence Fishburn and, unfortunately, he's just kind of there as a plot device as well. . . hmm, I wonder if they tried to get Danny Glover.
It's just a mediocre film, which sucks considering the cultural cache that first movie has. And I'm mostly pissed off that it ended my run of watching really good movies in a row. Elite Squad 2, Gosford Park, Wall-E, Winter's Bone, and then Predators. Why you gotta be the fly in everybody's ointment, Predators?
Edit: Tell me that Morgan Freeman wouldn't be a better choice. Tell me that with a straight face.
Oh, man, I just remembered Predator 2 was supposed to take place in the future. What the hell was that about?
Obviously in 1990 everyone figured that by '97 the country would be in the middle of a complete societal breakdown
Though it's still not as severe as Demolition Man's prediction of an urban hellscape a mere three years from its release date
Remember, Laurence Fishburne is the one with a daughter that went into porn.
Wow, that's usually kind of a last resort career decision. I can't imagine she would have trouble finding legit acting gigs when her dad is Fishburne.
It's something she actually wants to do. She wants to be in the porn industry. She cut off Larry because he was so vehemently disapproving of her life choice.
I like that she wants to live her own life and do her own stuff and all that. And then I read the stories about her being arrested for prostitution in 2009, and then being charged in 2010 for breaking into a woman's house and assaulting her.

Was reading an article that said there is lots of speculation that Prometheus is actually a prequel to a prequel of Alien and things are already starting for the next one.

I would not like this.
I would like to see Ridley tackle some new sci fi though.
“I feel like my character is the heart in the movie. You follow her, and she changes. In the beginning, she’s a believer. She believes in God and she has a very strong faith. She is a scientist and an archaeologist. She’s on this mission, and she’s full of hope. In the middle of the movie, things happen and she changes into more of a warrior. And in the end, she’s such a survivor.”
And the folks in the other forum remembered this bit:
I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.
I don't wanna kill anybody. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.
two simple turrets took out scores and score and scores of xenomorphs
Drones, not queens. Predators get killed by those.
Must be shitty Predators then. Queens are certainly bad ass looking, but ultimately only a threat if you're within arms reach.
Well, that's where you need to be if you're going to take your trophy with honor.
Yet it's honorable for Predators to shoot at humans while being invisible, and survive being shot at by our weapons without dying.
I know you guys have discussed the interplay between man and predator in the first Predator movie to death already, but I just wanted to go back and point out that my post was a throw-away facetious comment.
But I don't get the comparison between xenomorph trophies and humans anyway.

I can't quite place it, why just the robots of the Alien series have kept me endlessly fascinated? No other SF depiction gets it right, because the design is so elegant in simplicity. There are no magical flashing lights or crude motors. The form imitates our own physiology to such a degree, but not entirely. Yet these robots are not cyborgs, they are very closely imitating a biological human anatomy.
It will be very interesting to see the character development of the David, android character.

My basic guess from re-watching this new trailer, speculation on the plot
They arrive, the original symbiote is a microscopic creature is a parasite from the beginning of evolution, it is capable of intelligence and uses its hosts to populate other planets, thus why the ship is there. It infects the crew. The infected start to mutate. They in turn try to take off in the alien ship as per their original programming. Noomi ends up being the only one left alive aside from the android Fassbender, they crash their ship into the alien ship preventing the aliens from invading earth. Noomi dies in the process and somehow Fassbender is infected via... lets call it space science. But being a android he changes. Instead of just a basic parasite he forms the Space Jockey and sits in the chair and sends the signal to warn earth. The symbiote somehow forms into the original alien in his belly.
that or
Fassbender bot is infected along with the entire crew, Noomi kills them all and crashes the ship into the Alien ship, but she is infected. She, while being infected, works up enough will to get into the Space Jockey suit and warn earth
or... im totally wrong. Its been ages since ive seen the first Alien. But i love speculation. But who cares this looks like its going to be great.

Bacardi
Unless he is infected by the queen that wouldn't make sense. (ignoring AVP lore) because his would all the aliens look the same when they are embedded in humans?
Awaiting the inevitable Space Jockey Versus Predator movie.
Maybe the Space Jockey's were the race that the Predators ransacked for their technology?
Also, I remember in the late 90s/early 2000s, reading a Batman vs Predator comic. I used this last year to enrage another person by pointing out that Batman only comes to a draw with the Predator, and therefore Danny Glover could kill Batman. Nerd rage is the best rage.

Ahaha.
The nerd argument would be that batman doesn't kill.
Yeah, I just don't think anyone is getting out alive.[\spoiler]
Someone has to. This is how the company discovers the Xenomorphs IMO. My guess is Naomi's character does, from what I've read she's the closest to Ripley in the film.

Also, the best way to avoid being shot by a Predator is to stand in the open with a melee weapon.
