So a drunk staggers in the front door of a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "I'm sorry you're drunk, I can't serve you." So the drunk staggers back out.
Five minutes later the drunk stumbles through the side door and sidles up to tge bar asking for a beer. The bartender responds, "Buddy I just said I can't serve you!" and the drunk stumbles right back out.
Ten minutes later the drunk tumbles in the back door and bellies up to tge bar asking for a shot, and tge annoyed bartender says, "Buddy I'm not giving you a drop! Now get the heck outta here!"
The drunk looks up surprised and exclaims, "How many bars do you work at?!"
Gotcha. I mean, I'd like to learn a programming language in general. Just seems like something someone "tech savvy" should know in todays world, but also because it has and will likely continue to have even greater import on my life as an electronic musician.
I would like to get into software engineering, even if it's just to make little rinky dink reverb emulations and what not.
Since I'm working on a mac, would java be more useful?
To answer this specifically: no. It would not be more useful. Java is its own platform and essentially at home anywhere. Which is to say it is home nowhere.
Its support on the Mac is a little bit worse than on Windows, actually. I see no reason to use it here.
My official position is still to go with C. Kakos said Javascript. I think javascript is butts but honestly, both will serve.
You can learn Javascript at CodeAcademy, which is a trendy little website with interactive lessons and achievements and shit.
that was way too much effort for something so unfunny
I thought it was entertaining and appreciated the work he put into it.

I am so sick of the "Keep Calm and Carry On" thing. It's on everything - posters, mugs, cushions, thermos flasks, coasters, pet bowls (maybe, probably).

_J_ you posting a video in which kripke is a source of humor which nevertheless has nothing to do with kripke saddens me

It's kind of sad 'cos the posters are actually quite nice. But I just know it's in every student room in the land at this point.
I'm interested in going to that new Titanic Exhibit in the (appropriately named) Titanic Quarter, but I understand tickets have been sold out for a while. I may need to wait.

The faces have always been a robust part of PA comics. Among my favorites are the Kirby: Canvas Curse elation face and maybe a distant 2nd, the Mass Effect Alien Sex face(s)
Gabe's face in the last panel of today's comic scares me a little.
They have been running an advertising campaign for the museum in London recently too. The posters look quite neat, applying the general shape of an iceberg to the museum and ship

What is wrong with it? Have you tried changing the water / adding stress coat?

Dammit, I just downloaded a huge beta client for a new game only to find that their uptime hours are super limited. And by super limited and I mean they've got narrow openings in non-Euro friendly slots. Booo.

Sorry, got distracted -- a friend on mine is super depressed and I had to do the whole "yeah please don't kill yourself" talk
so C# is probably the best option then, [chat]? Or is that too deep to dive into?

For C, there are lots of places. Not sure how good this is but I always seem to end up at this site when coding to look up some syntax or documentation: http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial/c-tutorial.html
Your choices for Max objects are C, C++, Java, and Javascript.
So not C#, C.
how embarrassing!!!!!!
Thanks for the info. I'm thinking that C would be better for music stuff.
The main problem seems to be that since it's used for web programming, it has kind an awkward debugging workflow.

He's a chawacter on the show. Not the phiwosophew.
I think it's appropriate to the subject matter.
Yes, but that doesn't reduce the scaryness.
Meanwhile it's a lovely sunny hazy morning.

@Linespider5 you might try this page and this chart.
Also, do you keep it in a bowl, or in a tank with some filtration?
That was decently amusing and I have no knowledge of programming.
