Wow, I didn't know HotS changed the ultralisk bonus damage to light (I realize this was announced at Blizzcon now). So that'll make them pretty useless against the stalker/colossus army in PvZ (and even less effective against immortals). Though I guess if you're going mass zerlings and the protoss responds with zealots, you'd do pretty well.
I'm not surprised the replicator is gone. It was such a stupid idea...though I must admit I looked forward to replicating some tanks to hold 1/1/1s.
To be fair ultras are already horrible against stalkers and immortals, so it wont make much of a difference.

I dunno, they'll have to make some pretty drastic changes to Zerg or Protoss for me to consider switching away from Terran.
The only two decent matchups in this entire game are TvT and TvZ. Maybe ZvZ, but I haven't played it much. the rest are either boring because they're always the same (PvZ, PvT) or coinflippy (PvP).
Makes them even worse against marauders. Pretty sure a medivac'd marauder will be able to stand there taking unlimited amounts of ultra hits to the face.
Point is, zerg doesn't NEED more anti-bio. Ultras were zerg's one and only anti-armor unit, per se.

astonishing! that they would look to keep fans interest by making announcements at their once a year show. whatever were they thinking?!?!?!
I really don't feel comfortable in tvt doing anything but mech, I am just so comfortable with the opening I use that going another direction leaves me feeling vulnerable. some maps it's just so damn hard though.
I feel the same way about FE into Marine/Tank, I'd be so lost trying to 1-1-1 into Mech and balance gas income.
perhaps we can leverage this situation into something beneficial for both of us

Probably that giving once a year updates wasn't enough, so they'll double the fictional announcements!
so they can either tell us nothing or be completely honest with the fact that it's developmental and can be changed but hey here's what we're working on
I don't understand what the issue is with what they did. it's not fictional, they didn't lie or mislead.
I like getting some kind of update and something to talk about

Yes, TvP boring...you should explain your tvp build for the laugh though...
No Protoss players were underpowered during this post.

Anyone else notice the fact that we've gone from having no active laddering Masters Terrans to having three, in the space of about two weeks?

but it falls too far behind a 1gate FE and those builds are pretty tight when it comes to defending gas bio expands with pressure
so you end up with an army thats not really any stronger than a gasless expand, sacrifice economy to get it, and automatically lose against a void ray cheese to boot.

About the swarm host: wouldn't the "long range missile" for dealing with siege lines pretty much make the swarm host worthless?
Yes, I realize this is a ridiculous amount of speculation... but I'm assuming that the long range missile is similar to the Tomahawk Launcher from C&C: Generals, a very long range unit that doesn't do all that much damage in a straight up fight, but does force an engagement. If it was this, it would completely counter the swarm host.

Swarm hosts attack from way out of sight range. Terran doesn't know where they're burrowed, exactly. Though I imagine it's easy to guess.
Swarm hosts seem to start attacking from about 13-14 range, judging from the speed at which the guys moved, and the time tanks fire. Assuming it's 14, so that the terran can't just scan and kill them with tanks, and since the missile which is used to break siege lines will probably have ~15 range, you could scan and snipe them.

Yep. Honestly, doing any kind of speculating is useless, but I figured I'd add my views on the swarm host discussion, and I think they're going to be kinda useless one way or another.
On another note: how do other protosses feel about mass air builds in pvz? The few times I've tried it, its been a pretty easy win as long as I can hold off the mass roach push and secure a third, because then I can get a mothership and carriers, and start recall harassing, which is one of the best things in this game, along with multiple pheonix hit squads.
You can try out swarm hosts on the Hots custom maps. They end up being an interesting alternative to mineral dumping with lings when you go infestors. A swarm host/infestor siege line is pretty gross.
@TwitchTV, @Youtube: master-level zerg ladder/customs, commentary, and random miscellany.

Thats the hard part.
Yeah, striking the balance between sentries and void rays is quite tough.
Maps this seems to work well on: Shakuras, tal'darim
Maps it does not work on: Cloud Kingdom(not sure why, just never had success here), metalopolis
