I havent heard a single thing about "morality". And I love that.
If I wanna huck a guy off a roof, let me do it without making people hate me or be mad at me or locking out quests. Sometime a dudes got to let off some steam.
Actually, some of the previews mentioned you can get yourself in trouble with the law, and there is a reputation system. The people of a city might not like you very much if you throw them off roofs.
I'd wager its more like Red dead redemption where it unlocks things (I'd assume skulls in this case)rather than affecting the story
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Technically yes but bare in mind that your stats are dependant on your current class whenever you level up and gear isn't cheap. You still have some decent flexibility though.
Right, I don't plan on switching back and forth I'd just like to try out a bit of stuff before I truly settle and I have 0 interest in making multiple characters to do so. Also there isn't like a limit of monster in the world, right? I don't wanna screw myself on XP my switching...
It's $47.99 on Newegg for the next 48 hours with a promo code.
Veeeerry tempting.
You trade $12 to get the game 2+ days later than other methods (in-store at Best Buy/Gamestop, or via release day shipping with Amazon).
2 days doesn't really matter to me since I'm not 8 years old and can wait for a videogame to arrive.
I love how NewEgg has been undercutting every retailer on every single big release that's come out in the last 6 months. 47.99 is the defacto "new" price now for games,

Nope and most places aren't fixed spawns so you should be cool.
Well that's kinda the same as in Monster Hunter; the weapons have a (relativedly) realistic speed for something which is a huge chunk of metal you have to swing around for hours. If you want a faster attack speed you go with the smaller sword.
This gentleman knows what's up.
The depicted swing speed was bad enough that I have a hard time imagining that you're not hit out of your animations all the time on the first hit because of it. Could be encumbrance.
Any word yet on how the advanced classes actually unlock?

During the stream yesterday, they mentioned that when going from a non-caster to a caster, your poor casting stats might make the first few levels (or whatever you call them) sorta tough.
But they also were talking about being able to slot skills you unlocked with other classes, so it sounds like you could still run around with a greatsword (or whatever weapon your previous class was) while becoming a better mage.
It was also said somewhere that certain weapon types can only be used by certain classes though, so I think we need clarification.
Newegg 48 hour sale, cross posting this from the deal thread so you dudes who are interested hopefully don't miss it. 36 hours left as of me posting this.
I don't think you can a sword and shield and a bow, for example, but I could be wrong. Bows pair with daggers or staffs it seems.
I KNOW I've seen Assassins go for Shield + Daggers, though I believe the entire Assassin schtick is that you can use whatever the fuck weapon you want.

Dammit! That forced me to choose which version to buy.
Edit: Actually, I should just pre-order both, try the demo to see if there are any major differences, then decide.

Thanks for the codes. The couple of days doesn't matter much to me because I have to wait for it to get shipped to Japan, or wait for the exchange to stock it, and it's a toss up between which will be here first... and it's $6 shipping for me, so this $66 game only cost me $54! Thanks.
E: I added myself to the pawn listing, confirmed PS3 order, you can start adding me now if you want (maybe we'll see each other in Journey)

When I was at Yokota, I learned to never trust the store to have any games I wanted on release day. Any sports game, they got 1,000 copies of. Anything else, you're waiting forever. I learned to love Amazon.

I've had about equal success with Amazon and NewEgg. So pumped for this, when does the next video/stream come out?

Doubt we'll see anything else now. Demo next week and the reviews to follow some time in May before release.

Re-watching videos... at this point I think something is wrong with me.
So the variety you can have in your characters is pretty astounding. From hulking man brute to 5 year old child size... I'm going to be in that character creator for quite awhile.
Mother Daughter combo? Moose and Squirrel? House and Wilson? Bill and Hillary? I better see lots of pics! LOTS!

Yeah. That's why I tend to like Japanese create-a-characters.
They don't mind if you want to run around as a four foot tall chick carrying a 10ft sword.

How does that in any way effect you?
...That question makes no sense...
Because I'm going to buy the game I guess?

I am pretty impressed that your characters actual build affects their in game performance. I wonder how that actually works? Now I'm really excited to see the demo.
Guess my first character is going to be an amazonian as I am intending to play a warrior.

From what the vids I've seen so far:
SIze/weight affects run speed and hitpoints. Lighter/smaller = run faster, less HP and vice versa
I have a suspicion arm length/height might affect swing speed or something thereabouts, but haven't seen anything about that either way yet.

That is really fascinating. I don't think I've ever seen a game actually attach meaningful stats to that before. I am intriged.
Soulcalibur 5 kinda does that for custom characters, but the differences are negligible, and the best height is always being tall as fuck, since you get huge(r) range and pretty much no minuses.
So yeah, Dragon's Dogma's pretty much the first major game that I've seen doing this.
I forgot where I read it from, but your weight supposedly affect enemies too when you climb on them, so it will weigh them down.
I don't know how effective it is though.
Today is the last of the Famitsu interviews with the director, and there's some great stuff in there!
* Forgery items. You can make fakes of items (go to a specific shop) and give them to other players or use them to complete quests!
* "Wouldn't it be fun if you received a fake item?" (personally I think the answer is no!) For example, you can make fakes of the Warp Stones that don't work!. These items are pretty valuable and hard to come by, and when surrounded by monsters and using one to escape... a copy will just drop to the floor, and do nothing!
* The director was playing the game himself and forgot about the fakes. His warp stone didn't work and he complained to the development staff about it!
* Fakes can also be used to complete quests. E.g. there is a quest to give a book of magic. If you don't want to give the actual book, you can get a copy made and use that to finish the quest. However, this may have consequences later...
* Also, two opposing sides may want the same item. Use a fake and you can give them both what they want!
* Giving items away. Using Pawns, you can give anything to other players. Anything? Anything. Surely you can't give away one-only-in-the-world unique quest items, though? "No, you can give them away too! If you receive one, you may be able to complete a quest as soon as you take it on! It created a lot of work in checking everything, but we wanted to give players complete freedom."
* Bring anyone back to life! When you die, you have the option to use the "Pulse of the Dragon" to bring yourself back to life on the spot, one of the Arisen's powers (sounds like a consumable item). If you are going to be allowed to do something like that, then... why not let you use it on anyone?
* For example, at a certain point you may have to kill one of two people. Do so, make sure the correct reaction has occurred, and then you can sneak back and bring the one you killed back to life.
* There's an escort quest to take this girl to a certain spot, and its really hard. If she dies, you can then choose to use one of these items to bring her back to life and finish the quest.
the counterfeit thing will make being a griefing shitlord so much easier! Awesome!
This awesome pawn gave me awesome stuff! I will give it to this storyline NPC! Hey what the hell? Shit is messed up now and and arghhhh

This is going to be the greatest game ever. A predominantly single player game with the ability to troll people at random is fantastic. Minding I'll probably have my pawn only give useful stuff.

I'm more interested in that resurrection thing instead (trolling aside). Could be pretty cool continuing dual opposing faction storylines that way if it was set up for it.

Your build does effect stat growth and thus weight capacity so your child warrior may have trouble with that sword.
This world isn't fair.
That is pretty f'ing awesome.
