thank you nick online for informing me of the latest boy band
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
how bending seems super ineffective now. I guess they are trying to make the Equalist guys look strong but Korra couldn't even lay a hand on them.
Equalists
I assume they're all trained anti-bender fighters, and they're very good at what they do. While on the other hand Korra & Mako weren't trying to kill them, just stop/knock them out. The Equalists only had to lay a few hands on them and boom, no powers (temporarily).
On a side note, I'm finally getting around to actually watching the original series since Korra was actually pretty interesting for the first couple of episodes. Its good! I'm about half way through season 2. I assume the chi-blocking stuff Ty Lee can do is the same sort of moves the Equalists have?

Korra doesn't have a lot of practical experience, and those guys fight in a style she's completely unfamiliar with. And Mako and Bolin are only really experienced in pro bending, so they had even less of a shot.

you have a bunch of guys who trained to be spec ops against benders going against a few teenagers thinking they were fighting a bender gang
And you expect them to lose?

I've said it in the earlier thread.
Neither Korra, Mako or Bolin are trained soldiers or even trained by soldiers. I assume that after 100 years most forms of bending have become lax and formalized, aimed at spiritual enlightenment, utility or fighting civilians and thugs. Or in the case of Mako&Bolin, sporterized. The equalists on the other hand are either battlehardened, or have been trained by those who are.
Notice how bolins defensive moves were pretty weak, while korras, makos and bolins offensive attacks were straight forward and predictable.
Fighters like Zuko, Aang or Toph used more area of effect strikes or used a number of strikes that made the attackpattern as a whole harder to evade.
P.S: I'm hoping that Zukos "roaming the earth, being an ambassador of peace" is a euphemism for "Travelling the lands, taking names and kicking ass"
"The western world sips from a poisonous cocktail: Polarisation, populism, protectionism and post-truth"

by next season they will be eating the likes of those for breakfast
the little ferret will be taking them down two at a time

There's a difference between making benders weak and making Equalist fighters strong.
One does not imply the other.

tai lei was always a bitch to fight unless you got the drop on her

I'd love to see some sort of poster around the streets of the town if the equalists step up their game. Something made by benders to give a quick rundown on handling an attack by chi blockers. Maybe:
Combating Chi Blocks:
1. Keep your distance!
2. Get to a public area!
3. Do not engage alone!
I wonder if wearing armor over the parts of the body would render chi-blocking ineffective. Something like plain leather armor with metal bits covering the target sites for chi blockers?

Oh you mean like being a metal bender
Yeah that would probably work great.
See also rock armor.

I'd think the best way to deal with non benders would be to just engulf the entire area in fire, since you won't hurt yourself with your own fire. Or drop yourself through the ground and attack from underneath.
Korra isn't really familiar with doing any of this though.

It's the Luthor/Braniac hybrid from the first JLU season finale. Y'know, this one:

though, the first avatar series took like the whole first season to really start taking off (season 2 was when the show truly became a masterpiece)
i'm thinking about six episodes in, shit's really gonna start going down. can't wait.
thanks, i thought it might be that one but it's been a while
now that is super handy
<@zerzhul> you win at twdt

Is that a red panda ferret?
I thought the polar bear dog was amazing. This is too much.
And you expect them to lose?
JEEZ
Lets keep in mind that Korra isn't a fully realized Avatar and has a personality that jumps to fire.
Ty Lee never fought Aang one on one.
Chi blocking style is similar to the indirect approach that is a part of Airbending.

korra would need more than just the four original elements to overcome them...
Book 2:
Gunbending
it's a fire ferret

not a plush, I need the actual imaginary animal
One does not imply the other.
Call it whatever you want, that is a red panda ferret.
It is even better than the koala otter from TLA.

I also need see Bolin throw a boomerang at least once.

...you can do this you know
It's one of the core tenants of fire bending.
You can burn yourself.
