Surprised is spelled with an R? Why? Every one I have ever heard says Sup-prized not Sir Prized. Sir Prized sounds like a Mcdonaldland character.
Because most people say it incorrectly and drop the R altogether. Just like how most people say "familiar" incorrectly as "furmiliar" and put an R where there should be none.
