I know where the village is coming from but this seems a little too convenient for the heroes. They know I have a masoned partner and getting the village to kill me mean they don't have to waste a kill undermining the network that is forming. I'm also curious if the PM accusing me of being a spy was in before or after the warban wagon.

Yeah, even the evil overlords handbook can't defend soup kitchens. Sure you're suppose to make sure that the people you conquer are happy enough that they won't revolt but you don't achieve that by giving them free handouts. You achieve that by giving them jobs that provide your empire with enough services and goods to crush the opposition and you set it up so that they will do whatever they can to keep you from being defeated because they don't want to lose their jobs.
Incidentally, since I'm going to die tonight and we're talking about cats. Brother, you know who you are, make sure that army I was building is put to good use and properly fed.
Indeed, I must second the classy antman. Also while those bankers are evil, they aren't the good kind of evil and should be snuffed out. The flu is evil but you don't see me advocating to stop flu shots.
