It bums me out that anime's gone so, so deep in the shitter, because gat damn the Japanese could do some crazy animation design when they put their minds to it. There was, for a while, a mainstream culture of really experimenting with the medium and seeing what they could pull off, in a way western animation studios never really tried to match. ...Probably because the western studios had competent accountants.
Anyway, the way I link to AMVs isn't because it's anime or the music, but usually because they're good summations of a show's visual aesthetic, and I really enjoy that.
