In order to be productive, it appears optimal to sleep like 6 hrs a day x.x

I sleep 10+ hours and get up past noon every day

So I've never seen an episode of How I Met Your Mother, beyond like a very little bit from the very beginning. So this is a spoiler I felt okay clicking on.

Ending spoilers substantiated entirely from the spoilers posted earlier.
I had this feeling that when they said <This character> is not your mother, that she'd somehow end up being involved in some way, or some kind of fakeout. It's.. an interesting take, to kill off the latter woman and have them urge him to go with said first lady.

Isn't 9 years a really, REALLY long story to be telling to the kids?
He started telling the story to the kids when they were in the fifth grade and finished when they were 18 and getting ready to go off to college.

Okay... that's acceptable, but.. weird. I don't think I would have had that kind of patience if I was a kid.

Does the events when he started telling the story even influence him meeting their mother?

That's some butterfly effect level shit.

The writers for HIMYM basically had about 4 seasons of content, I guess because a lot of the early episodes are essentially based on things that happened from their own lives. It becomes pretty obvious around S5 when they start running out.

I once attempted to make kraft Mac and cheese, and made a destroyed pot and a smoking mess.

Like, I basically pretty much caught pasta on fire.

They moistly come out at night, moistly.

Plenty of them slept 7 or 8 hours a day in that diagram.

Sleeping 10 is way too much and is bad for your health though, you should stop it.

Like, omelettes are good because their fail state is still edible, scrambled eggs.

APPARENTLY the failstate of the lasagna thing I just made is "cheese soup"

This is the best possible failstate.

How is it a failstate if it's better than the winstate?

Sorry but no soup is better than lasagna : (

If I get enough sleep then my brain is way too awake to actually do any work and I get distracted too easily. There's a magic amount in there somewhere.

Also fuck April Fool's day. The international dateline turns it into some weird 4 day event where you can't tell what's real and what's not, where it's real and what was just misscheduled or left up too long.

    The idea is good, really?

To be fair I really disliked the the Children of Men film though. Cinematographically impressive, but ended up in a weird "look at us comment on a modern british issue!" place storywise.

    "... what they said?"

    Yup.

It's more natural in Japanese because making something a question is just a matter of tacking on a "ka" at the end and the structure is otherwise exactly the same.

    ashita wa atsui desu

    atsui desu ka?

Dunkin' Donuts moves upmarket in foreign countries
SEOUL — It is a Saturday night and one of the unlikeliest hot spots in the city is packed. More than 100 people are sprawled at tables, sipping, talking, munching. Young women are dressed as if at a nightclub. Some have been here for hours.

A concert? A dinner party? Nope. This, believe it or not, is Dunkin’ Donuts — one that is unlike almost any other in the world.

That's not really surprising, rebranding yourself for success in different markets only makes sense.

McDonalds here in Japan is much more upscale. Bob's Big Boy isn't a burger joint but is a hamburg family restaurant. KFC has positioned itself to be the go to place for one's date night dinner on Christmas Eve (because Christmas Eve is a night for couples in Japan). etc.

'You might not feel compelled to walk over to your neighbor's house and bash his head in for his valuables but can you say the same about him?' kind of paranoia. Yeah, that's some good stuff for a movie to explore.

Remember your truth tables, both sides of a disjunct can be true.

yah I think the main driver is that being downmarket would expose them to too much competition from local clones

so they go upmarket and charge more
