It got really cold and drizzly here, so I ended up never taking off my jacket and hoodie at the party. Which actually sorta helped the look. I got "MMA fighter", and "CM Punk" as guesses, which isn't bad when you're expecting 0 recognition.

I drank a bunch of pumpkin beer at my halloween party then fell asleep with my wife on a couch
people posed for photos with us while we were asleep

also 2 of the like five dudes at the party of 40 or 50 women took it on themselves to "improve" the music and in doing so ensured long stretches of silence when their song stopped and there was nothing after it and then the stereo overheated and turned itself off because they were playing everything so loud it clipped out the speakers.

I've got my Halloween party tonight (why did they want to do it tonight instead of yesterday? No idea). But on the plus side it's given me time to put the finishing touches on my costume.

So in the end, some stuff came up at work and I didn't get a Halloween
But damned if I wasn't gonna at least put the thing on a day later and see how it would have looked
So my Disney Princess costume was pretty successful!

How did or what did you build the breast plate out of ?
I built the breastplate primarily out of a thermoplastic called Worbla. You can heat it with a heat gun and drape it over things to get their shape. It has an adhesive built in, so it can attach to itself while warm and stay pretty solid afterwards. I basically wrapped the edges around some craft foam to make it less painful to wear and smoothed out the shape by doing the following steps:
1. Paint 1-2 coats of Gesso
2. If smoothing is necessary, use spackling putty (the stuff you use to smooth over drywall that starts off pink and goes white when cured)
3. Sand the spackling putty, then add a coat of gesso (skip this step if you didn't have to do Step 2)
4. 3-5 coats of wood glue to make the surface smooth
5. Sand, prime, paint, then cover the surface with Rub N Buff (a wax-based liquid that gives the armour a metallic sheen)
6. Weather parts of it with black acrylic paint and add highlights with light grey acrylic.
