It ought to be mandatory to check out the stuff at Aperture Science prior to this game's release.
Use login, followed by any username to login, password is "portal" or "portals". Use "apply" to take the application form to Aperture Science.
Commands from the command prompt are (probably complete, not sure): dir, lib, ls, apply, logoff, interrogate, and valve. And (website application spoiler):

If the game is anywhere near as awesome as the stuff on that site, this game is going to rock. Hard.
Also, this thread deserves more love. I think we need a [Portal] tag in the title.
Maybe...maybe...I just like the subtlety.
It took me the better part of a particularly dull work shift to come up with the idea for the thread(s). I'm glad that people enjoyed the outside-the-box OP.
I'm disappointed. Not for the reasons listed by others who played in advance, either. Spoilers ahead:
Not being able to portal any surface never seemed weird or restricting. I want to get that off the bat. It does make some puzzles feel a bit forced, but generally the surface thing feels natural. I've done plenty of fun little things.
The thing that gets me is the lack of puzzles. You have 19 floors, and over half are basically tutorials. Yup. Around Floor 8 or 9 of NINETEEN FLOORS you get the ability to fire two portals. Prior to that, the orange portal is pre-made and you are limited to firing the blue.
About an hour in and I have four floors remaining. While it's a bit meatier, I remain skeptical that this will even last the three hours most people predicted. Maybe these levels will be serious business, but I dunno.
The game is still neat, however, and Valve did not neglect to give it the high standard when it came to atmosphere. For a game with squat for story details, I'm pretty engrossed in the simplistic testing environment the enrichment center has given me.

Yeah, this game seems like a prime candidate for a slew of map-packs, from both Valve and the modding community.
Having just beat it, in, according to Steam, 2.3 hours, I will say that it was short, but fun. The "Import Bonus Maps..." button leads me to believe that yeah, sure, its more or less over for now, but who's to say people won't come up with some really amazing puzzles? I think I'll give the "Advanced" tests a try tomorrow.
I have the same time as Kyanilis, but damn was that fun. The challenges, advanced maps, and achievements will have to wait though as it's rather late. Good night.
Great game. Finished in about 3 hours and tried to do a couple advanced ones. At first it looked like they were exactly the same as the last few in the main game, but they've changed it up abit to make it much tougher. Only finished the first one so far.
Can't wait till the community maps/mods/rooms start coming in.

I love that robot lady. It makes the portal levels of Peggle totally worth it.

MIRROR, thanks Zetx!
Rorus Raz: if you were able to portal any surface, it would literally make this game trivial and incredibly easy.
