there's no reason they can't regularly have a two segment match (with a commercial), there are more than one of those per show and it's not always the most interesting matches.

basically they should get as much time as the tag division which is an assumed long match per night with sometimes another shorter one, based on what I have noticed on raw since I've been watching. that's not counting the many 6 man tags over the last 2 or 3 years.

Are there ad breaks in shows like RAW and Smackdown on the Network?

Those people on Twitter ARE the common, mainstream fans.

Just like how everyone is a gamer now, every wrestling fan is an Internet fan

Internet fan? Sure. Internet wrestling fan? No.

So the countless hours they spend every month on YouTube programming, Twitter hashtags, and other various social media callouts is for whom?

Yeah HHH literally said that every fan is a "smark" now on Austin's podcast

Everyone is an Internet fan who keeps up with the product on their to some degree

I'm talking about the type of fan who watches New Japan or even NXT.
If you think those are the only people who would be interested in seeing a full-length, well worked women's match on Raw every week then I don't really know what to say

Like those fans that go to shows or just watch Raw and don't read /r/squaredcircle or Uproxx or whatever want good wrestling, sure they want other stuff like John Cena and Roman Reigns too but there is absolutely a market that would watch and enjoy good women's matches if they just would give them a chance to do them

Let me add that I think the company as a whole is in a real dilemma right now in regards to the Network because the majority of subscribers are "hardcore" fans who like pure wrestling and the like. But as Hunter said they have to cater to every demo on the main shows, and they aren't all the sudden going to only cater to the hardcore fans because they'd lose too much audience.

I'm not trying to say the current product is the right way to go but they can't afford to have the Network fail so the balance act from now on is going to cause many headaches.

Here's a big secret about Trish and Lita:

    They were not great wrestlers.

Now, they weren't bad wrestlers either, of course. But they weren't actually that special when it came to in-ring skills.

Yet they main evented Raw and were super over, and have tons of fans to this day.

So how in the world did that happen? Why are they the ones everyone talks about when there have been plenty of more talented women(are there's several in the company right now)?

And no, it wasn't just sex appeal. They both had it in spades, of course. So did Sable. But there's a reason Sable is not the long-term star they were.

Well it's because they had characters, feuds, storylines, screen time, and attention. They were allowed to build a connection with the crowd over time. They were given then ball, and it wasn't snatched away from them if they didn't produce immediate results.

This is why AJ got so over. Because she was prominently featured in important storylines that allowed her to develop a real, meaningful persona. She wasn't segregated into the little girls only playpen, she was portrayed as someone the male characters also paid attention to. This is also why she lost most of her overness when she got slotted into the generic Diva role like everyone else.

Building the Divas into something the fans will care about will take some time. Because the company has trained the fans for so long that women are worthless bathroom breaks. The time to start doing this is now.

These women need to be in lots of storylines that are given a proper spotlight on Raw. They need to have real feuds that aren't thrown together lazy garbage. They need to talk. They need to interact with other characters, male and female. They need time to connect with the fans that right now, don't care.

Women will not get over if you just book them like Kofi Kingston, aimlessly wandering around getting into random title matches and generic feuds and trading meaningless wins. They need a real spotlight.

Trish and Lita would have never gotten over today.

I wanna see this AJ calling out Steph thing blow the fuck up.

AJ rallies the womens talent, they revolt and start taking over shows.

The movement could be called the New Women's Order. That's a lot to fit on a t-shirt though, so they could shorten it to N.W.O., right? They could smash the divas title and introduce a new Womens World Wrestling Championship belt, introduce a handful of awesome indy women wrestlers (Kana et. al. {Kellie Skater woo!}), have Total Divas completely reworked to focus much more on the issues facing women making their way up in the workforce (because womens wrestling mirrors the rest of society pretty handily) instead of a silly 'reality' show...

The easiest thing they could do is create a new one hour women's show on the network that airs every week. With the amount of programming that they need to sell this thing it's a no brainer, really.

That doesn't really accomplish much of anything, though. The point is to give them time on Raw, or Smackdown at least, not segregate them or put them on a lower tier show.

PPVs I can somewhat agree with as it is tied to the weekly product

But NXT is WrestleEarth-2 it should be able to have mixed matches just fine
